@Charlotte thank you x
The midwife explained to me that it means 1 person in every 5000 people could have a down syndrome baby, in your case. They should have explained it all to you though so if you are not sure i would phone them up. Nobody actually phoned me and i seen the results on my app and had to phone them. The midwife that i spoke to was very apologetic and said someone should have called me before uploading the results. Hope that helps x
It essentially means that if you had 5000 babies (or 5000 women with the exact same history/health/age etc as you had a baby each) only 1 would be affected by Down’s Syndrome. That’s an incredibly low risk result, they only start worrying it the risk is 1 in 150 or greater so you have nothing to worry about :)
I asked this question and didn’t really get an answer. 1/100,000 is the max, but please don’t let that panic you as 1/5,000 is incredibly low. That’s 0.02% chance that baby will be and a 99.98% chance that baby won’t be xx
i’m 1 in 10,000
My midwife says that the lower the number the better it is. Its when the number is higher then you need to worry. Aside tfrom that, I honestly don't know. The midwife will go through the results with you at your 16 weeks appointment, that's what mine did with me today x
