Possible breech baby

I went for my midwife appointment on Friday and the midwife said that baby appears to be breech. I’m also measuring 1 week ahead bump wise. She said if at my 36 week scan (tomorrow) this is confirmed they may try to turn her manually and if that doesn’t work would suggest a c-section. Anyone in the same situation? I knew my bump felt so so hard high up. But I’d been to hospital for monitoring one day and I’m sure they said they thought she was head down so I hadn’t thought anymore of it. 😬 I’m very nervous. All my other scans with last baby and this one previously have gone so well. Feelings of excitement about the last scan and her arrival have turned into fear a bit.

Mines extended breech, they tried to turn her last week unsuccessfully. Message me if you need any advice following your scan.

I had 3 midwife apps and was told baby was head down, only to find out at 36 week scan baby was breech. It shook me too so know how you feel. I decided to turn with success at 38 weeks after being very reluctant to try it. Just remember whatever the scan outcome it is all your choice

I’m in the same situation, no advice as I’m literally 36 weeks myself! Have another presentation scan at the hospital at 38 weeks but if he doesn’t turn then I’m booked in for a c-section! Not what I wanted or planned but anything to make it the safest possible outcome for baby and me. X

Hi, my baby is 9 month but she was breech, the tried and failed to turn her so had a planned section. It was nothing to worry about. The midwife took pictures throughout and recovery isn't too bad if you have someone available to help at home. Born 38+1 weighing 5lb4 was only out 17 mins and wanted to latch on while I was getting sewed up. Good luck mama

I'm in a similar situation but my midwife doesn't seem anywhere near as concerned... I had my 37 week midwife appointment and she couldn't work out the position and I was measuring small so she questioned breech and is sending me for a scan next Thursday. She told me there are things they can do if baby is breech but not to worry as because it's my second they move around more freely and can sometimes even only decide to get into position when they're ready to come out 🤷 hopefully this puts your mind at ease a little, everything will fall into place and we will see out little ones soon 🥰 x

My baby is breech and the UTC was unsuccessful. We’re booked on Friday for c section x

Had literally the exact same thing. Midwife has been saying all along baby is head down! Was sent for a growth scan on Friday at 37 weeks as bump was measuring a little big on the Thurs and they said she is breech and has most likely been for a long time, wish I'd known sooner so could try all the spinning babies stuff! Got a consultant appointment tomorrow to go through all my options but I want to try everything possible to get her to turn, I had my heart set on a natural birth so much so was heartbroken when I found out! I'm not against c-sections but have been so keen for all natural the whole pregnancy. So fingers crossed to you that your midwife is wrong like mine has been the whole time, apparently its quite common as heads can feel like bottoms 😂 These shocks so close to the end suck, but just think how close you are to meeting baby 🥰 that's what's getting me through! X

My baby has been head down for months, her bum has always been on the top right of my stomach below my ribs and its really hard, almost feels like it could be her head. But I've had scans every 2 weeks in the third trimester and she's always been head down. I don't think you will know until a scan x

@Jenny this was me exactly! The following week i was just overwhelmed researching all the things i could try and do to turn baby. I’ve been to a chiropractor to open up cervix, acupuncture, doing daily inversions etc etc. Hope it all works out for you!

My little one was breech And they didn’t try to turn because of fibroids. I was really happy I had to have a c section 😂 and honestly loved it it was so easy and recovery was fine ! So much so that I’m having baby number 2 in 8 weeks via c section and baby number one isn’t even 1 yet haha xx

Mine has been breech since 22 weeks so we have a section planned for Thursday. With it happening so early I had lots of time to research and look into the options so it wasn’t a snap Decision for us x ECV is not always successful and I just felt like it wasn’t the right choice for us, I’d have loved a water birth but getting her here safely with minimal risk is our main concern x

I had a successful ECV at 37 weeks as baby had been breech for a long time!

Thank you so much for all your messages. Baby was actually head down after all! I hope that all your births whichever way they go are safe and straight forward and you get to meet your lovely babies soon x x

I went for an ECV today (I’m 36+6 today) and unfortunately they couldn’t go ahead with the procedure because there isn’t enough fluid. I asked about vaginal breech delivery and they said they can’t guarantee experienced staff are there when I’m in labour and that is unsafe. So I’m in for a c section - my absolute last resort option but I’m thankful and relieved it’s out of my hands and we can now countdown the days until he’s here! We’ve been given the date of the 23/06/23 🥰
