keeping your pram at home

our pram was delivered today, i’m 21w2d, my boyfriend and his family keep telling me i can’t keep the pram at my house before the baby arrives because of an old wives tale it’ll bring bad luck to the baby. honestly i’ve never been a superstitious person, i’ll walk over three drains, open umbrellas inside, walk past people on staircases ect ect. i have somewhere to keep the pram that’s not at my house but i just feel there’s no problem with keeping it at home but i don’t want to argue with them about it but i feel there’s no need

Iv never heard of this.. kept my pram at home as soon as I bought it.

I do not understand these superstitions! Like all the pregnancy old wives tales, they don’t mean anything 🤣 Keep the pram where you want x Mine is being delivered this week and will be stored in the spare room :) x

Superstitions are just that - Google the definition and it says unreasoning belief arising from fear. If you don't believe in them then good for you - tell them that you would rather not be ruled by fear.

They’re being ridiculous

I kept the pram at home and had a very easy birth and my little one is a dream, nothing but good luck!! It's also there when baby comes and you don't need to worry about getting it home!

Oh god yep my dad and step mum said this to me when I was pregnant with my son. Totally ridiculous and completely insensitive. I lost 2 babies before falling pregnant with my son so after we brought the pushchair and heard that remark I just thought sod off 😒 like we need stupid superstitions to worry us even more!! 😅

Don’t understand that and also most of the one’s you listed lol I guess different cultures.. my parents and my in law’s did use to about shopping too early and celebrating the baby such as baby showers are not good but it’s just Superstitions and I don’t believe in them.. my mom does get mad about us cutting our nails in the house as it brings bad luck/Fortune apparently 😂 don’t understand it and don’t follow I cut my nails when I have time to do so.. I think you should keep your baby’s pram at home, i always start shopping around 30 weeks and bring everything home

I have heard of this, however I do believe it’s just a superstition and if you don’t believe in them then no problems! I’ve had my pram up and ready since 26 weeks I was so obsessed with it 😂🫣 now 31 weeks and baby is so healthy x

I’ve heard of this and it’s ridiculous. How on Earth can having a pram in the house have any affect if a baby is ok or not.

I don’t believe the superstitions but we’re having our pram delivered to my mum who will keep it until baby is here. Not for any other reason than just saving on space for as long as we can!

It's an old superstition it's now adviced to buy one in 2nd trimester and to have everything in home and ready to go by 35 weeks.

I was told this by my nanny. I kept the pram at home anyway, I wanted to be able to look at it 😂

We put our pram together and kept it in the garage, had no issues

Superstition like that are funny 2 min but gets old real quick… I mean seriously, do people really believe that? Why not the baby’s bed? Or changing table? It makes no sense

Umm where else are you supposed to keep the pram? This is silly! My mum told me not to buy things before 12 weeks cos it would be bad luck for baby cos obviously the chance of losing a baby is high before 12 weeks, I bought stuff and she ended up doing the same and now I’m 14 weeks w a healthy baby 🤍

@Freya i can keep it at my grandparents house so it’s not much of a big deal, i didn’t buy much in the early stages but i’m in the second trimester now and i’ve only got a few more things to buy for our baby boy. i like having everything in one place idk why but i feel like i’m gonna be upset taking the pram away from the house lol

Tbh it’s a superstition I followed I didn’t have the pram in the house before my baby was born just the car seat ready for the hospital! I did set it up at my moms house to make sure it was all ok and then it stayed there xx

@Hannah aww bless you if you want to keep everything in one place then do, but I understand even if you don’t believe the superstitions feeling bad lol

My mother told me the same thing but I don’t personally believe in superstitions. We got the pram around 25-28 weeks and nothing happened. If it’s not a big deal to you and you get on with them then just let them store it just to put their mind at ease.

In my opinion. If you have somewhere to keep, why not. At least it will not occupy space. They are your family, if it makes them feel better, why not. They just want good for you and your baby. Maybe it's in they culture.

I would say, if you don't believe in this stuff then you shouldn't bind to your in-laws just to keep the peace. Better to set boundaries early! But as your bf also believes in this, then should be a decision only you two take.
