First sweep unsuccessful.

I had my first ‘attempted’ sweep today and cervix still closed and far back. Some slight softening but still progress to be made. 41+1 weeks - definitely deflating as been having cramps on/off and thought I might be more ‘favourable’ and I want to avoid a full induction, The midwife said a lot can change in hours or days and for others it’s weeks. There’s really no way to know. Have to try and get babies head lower to put pressure on the cervix but I’ve been doing that for weeks (birth ball, walks, curbs, squats etc.) and I’ve tried everything - sex, dates, tea etc. Some babies just need extra time. Only 50% of babies are born by 40+5 and 75% by 41+2, so try not to feel too down as still quite early.

I am in the same boat, I had one at 39 weeks and was unsuccessful- the same reason as you. But I went curb walking, collecting colostrum, curry, sex and bounced on my ball and the 2nd one at 39+5 was successful! It’s so disappointing but don’t give up 🤞

I have my first sweep booked in for 41+6 and I'm worried about it failing too. Feels like baby's head is lodged right in my pelvis for a while but I'm also worried its not low enough and I end up coming out of it feeling less than.

Is there a max on how many sweeps can be done before getting induced?

I’m 39+6 today and have just had mine, midwife said my cervix is soft but still at the back but gave my partner his orders to have sex with me tonight 😂 I’m booked in for an induction Sunday but we’re hoping the sweep moves things along a bit x

I am in the same boat! Got another sweep booked tomorrow 40+4, if nothing happens by Tuesday I am opting for a section x

Had my first sweep last Friday, couldn’t get into my external cervix as it was still closed. Lost part of my plug the day after because she’d messed around with my cervix. Went for my second sweep on Tuesday, 2cm dilated and it’s very soft and since then lost the remainder of my plug. Got a midwife appointment tomorrow where I’m hoping she’ll give me a third one to get things going

I went for mine today was dreading them telling me this. Lucky for me they didn't after working myself up to be told it. She said I was 2 cm dilated and my cervix is soft but there is a little bit more to go so she doesn't think this sweep will do much, my next one on Saturday probs would. I'm glad I didn't have one before 40 weeks though. Xx

When they attempted the sweep was the baby engaged ?
