Accidentally gave baby unsterilised formula!

I hadn't realised my prep machine had stopped putting in the hot shot so he's had 3 bottles with formula not sterilised. Today has already been terrible with mistakes and the guilt is immense. Does anyone know what I should be looking out for?? Online only talks about unsterilised bottles! He's been himself, maybe a little fussy but he's been laughing and playing like normal.. I feel like a horrible mum :(

These things can happen! Don’t beat yourself up about it. All you can do is keep an eye to make sure he is feeling fine in himself like you mentioned. If you are reallllly worried I would speak to your GP, but I would assume they would just tell you to look out for signs he may have an upset tummy. I’m sure soooo many mums have done the same thing before and it’s only a few bottles x

Honestly don’t worry at all lovely! What formula do you use? Keep an eye on little one but honestly, things happen, I’ve accidentally give my son a few bottles with unsterilised bottles I thought I had switched it on at night but I realised I forgot when I saw the water underneath the baskets in the steriliser, I’ve also give him a bottle passed the 2 hour mark, things are there in place but you should also remember in the US they don’t actually do it the way we do and babies are fine over there and some of the formulas are the same as ours, it’s just a little mishap it might just upset his tummy a little bit but it shouldn’t cause concerning side effects x

I do sterilise bottles twice a day but if by any chance I ran out I honestly just wash it with baby washing up liquid as then I honestly do not have time to set up steriliser and leave baby go mad. I use already made milk as I combo feed and when my lo is hungry there is no waiting. Tried powder but it just made everyone upset by the time it’s made as she only drinks room temp milk. So there were times when I topped up the bottle she ate 2 hours ago as I physically could not get out of the bed. I try to keep things sterilised but she is eating anything she reaches (carpet, slippers, sofa corner, my hair…) that I do think if a bottle is not sterilised it’s not gonna make her worse than licking the carpet (have baby play mat but she learned how to roll and every chance she gets she is rolling anywhere off that baby mat) Your baby will be completely fine, the only thing that can happen is upset tummy but it’s still very unlikely x

I think around the 6 month mark we can start being less sterile with the babies so I’m not sure it will really matter. For the first month and a half I was making my bottles wrong and my babies always been fine. I was boiling the water, letting it cool and then adding the milk. We’ve had no adverse reactions. My pretty sure when we go in the bath/swimming my baby ends up drinking some of the water anyway and that’s definitely not sterile 🤷‍♀️🫣

Thank you all, this has really helped. You know when the negative thoughts take over. He's seems good today and tommee tippee are sending a replacement. Luckily we have two kettles and a large water dispenser so we shouldn't have stressful feeds today
