Milton keynes hospital

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows if MKUH offer private rooms after labour/c-section? I had my first in stoke mandeville and they did offer private rooms (at a cost of course) but cannot find any info on the MKUH website. Thank you in advance

From what I know/read from others, you’ll give birth in a private room but after that you’ll be out on Ward 9 with baby until discharged - you won’t be able to have anyone else stay with you. From what I’ve heard, Ward 9 is horrifically understaffed and insanely busy.

@Kris oh gosh that doesnt sound pleasant :(

No advice of private rooms, But I had a baby there late May & partners are able to stay overnight on the ward afterbirth

@Diana If you have a look on my profile I posted about it, have a look at some of the replies x

I gave birth there last January and saw a sign as I was leaving about private rooms that you could pay for. Worth speaking to them about it.

You can pay for private rooms, ward 9 was fantastic when I was there couldn’t have asked for more from them very helpful they are busy but I didn’t find it affected my care 🙂 x

I had my baby two weeks ago and ward 9 was incredible. Although the midwives were understandably busy, they couldn’t do enough for me and my LO. My partner could stay overnight and we were allowed two visitors during visiting hours x

Yeah I had a private room post birth nearly 5 years ago. 100% recommend it

Was on ward 9 in march it was an horrific experience, some staff are good others are just awful. You're in a ward room with about 6 and some people just have no consideration for others. I wasn't given the option for a private room so unsure if there is, looking back on my experience I would have booked one if I could so worth asking for.

I was on ward 9 when I gave birth in 2021 just before we went into another lockdown at the start of the year. It was horrific really put me off being in hospital for giving birth. In a room with 6 other mums which like others have said some have no consideration. I also had a extremely rude midwife, she was doing the rounds doing my checks like heart rate. When I buzzed for a midwife she came. I've just given birth, I'm tired and needed a pee. First time since giving birth, I asked where the toilets are? And she said "why don't you get up and go look for yourself" I couldn't believe how rude she was! I didn't know if it was ok to leave my newborn son alone next to my bed whilst I peed!!??? Needless to say with my 2nd baby I had a home birth. Much much better experience 😊

I was on ward 9 recently and they were fab! I couldn’t fault the care they gave me even though they were understandably busy they really try! You are allowed visitors anytime (up until 10pm) during the day (2 at a time) and partners are allowed to stay over. They only thing that I thought was unfair is if you stay over your partner is not allowed any toast/cereal/ hot drink in the morning, patients only!

Thanks all. I stayed in a ward in Stoke Mandeville with my first and really want a bit more privacy this time. We have since moved house so MKUH is my closest hospital but jusf really wantes a private room. Especially as it looks like i might need a c section and will have to stay overnight
