Are you breast feeding? If not then maybe ask the doctor and go onto hungry baby formula
If your exclusively formular, which my son is, I’d say do what is right. My LOs weight has remained on the same path since birth and I’ve basically ignored the guidelines on the formula because they never worked for him. He now has 5-6 feeds a day and sometimes they’re 7oz but I’ve increased to 8oz for some where there is a bigger gap and he drains it. I was told they can’t really overfeed so I’d go with what feels right for you and your little one x
Does your little boy show any signs of still being hungry/not satisfied after his bottle? My little girl has always been keen and guzzly but she doesn’t actually know when she’s full! She would take everything we give, even if it’s too much for her, it does make it really hard to know when her bottles need increasing but i’ve noticed recently she has been getting hungry a little earlier than usual so we know to increase slightly… it’s really hard to work out sometimes isn’t it! Xx
It definitely is. My little man does drain the bottles too but out of curiosity I made up a really large one once and he did actually push it out when done. So I felt better knowing he would. Not necessarily suggesting such an experiment but worked for us!! Sounds like you’re doing a great job and know your little lady so well and it’s natural to doubt it, but try not to. Xx
@Sorcha hiya sorry for late reply! he’s formula fed but unfortunately Kendamil don’t do a hungry baby formula :(
@Carly exactly like ur boy, my son has always been like this but it’s only now where he is just never full! The 7oz filled him up for a about a day (he has always slept through) and all of a sudden is he never full! Since then he’s had a couple 8oz but it’s like there’s no difference to him between the 7 and 8 bottles🤦♀️ x
@Kim yes he is still smacking his lips and getting frustrated! My boy has always loved his milk- big boy😂!! Xx
NHS guidance is babies need 150-200ml of formula per kilo of their weight up until 6 months (weaning), your little one will be drinking about 1200ml a day if you give him 6 x 7oz bottles, doesn’t seem excessive at all. From everything I’ve read, babies can’t overfeed unless you force feed them. I’ve got a hungry girl too who drinks more than ‘average’ 😁 x
