No it doesn't. You'll have to be on the labour ward at pinders and not able to use the birthing pool unfortunately. I don't know if anywhere will allow you to be in the pool whilst monitoring you (I could be wrong - know Pinders definitely wont). If you're set on that though you'll have to go to a different hospital. All the best x
You can still have a home birth if you look at your risks and are happy to. Home birth support group UK on Facebook is fantastic for helping you fully inform yourself
@Gemma I am still planning on hoping to have a home birth, fingers crossed. It’s even debatable tbh whether I have gestational diabetes, I am a gastric bypass patient who can’t have the gtt so I have been testing my sugars. I only had a couple of highs but tbh I was dumping at the time. Haven’t had any since, I do however produce to much insulin which gives me reactive hypoglycemia (not diabetes related though). Fingers crossed though that I am able to have a homebirth. X
@Laura I do know that Leeds have some that can be used in the pool but I know they are really expensive so was wondering whether maybe Pinders have the same x
I spoke to a Midwife last Saturday at Pinders and they said they have the waterproof wireless monitoring equipment for the birthing pool on the labour ward.
There's only about 20 waterbirths a month according to the statistics post. And probably 2 home births. Out of 400-450 births a month. I stuck to my guns and had both my births at home in a pool in the same spot in my living room. Both outside of guidelines because I'm fat. If you plan a home birth look at the Leeds Wakefield community pool scheme via Yorkshire oaks doula.
Hello everyone, I’m new, just done some waves. That’s the extent of my familiarity with this app! I’m struggling to bump heads with my old friends these days, busy schedules and distance along with work and family life just seem to make it impossible. I felt really low this evening 😭 so thought I’d take the leap to finding some new pals! I’m up for play dates, but mum dates really are my priority right now! I’m struggling to get out for some time to myself. If anyone is feeling the same, and fancy a meet up for a chit chat it would be lovely. I’m positive, straight to the point, up for a laugh always, and love a big old chill after a long day. Thanks girls ❤️
@Charlotte hi, I asked this question but was told by consultant at Dews they don't have the monitoring equipment at pinders for the pool. I am going to query this at my midwife appt based on the response you've been given.
@KloeThey definitely do as I was in the pool for my birth and the midwife told me they had them. They only used a Doppler on me and checked his heartbeat every 15mins.
I don't think you can have the monitoring in the pool. I wanted water birth but mine came too quickly. They did want to monitor and said they wouldn't be able to if I went in the pool
