You have the injections to numb the area before the spinal block. (I’m not sure if you would’ve had those before your last one) They sting a fair bit, similar to the ones you have at the dentist but honestly I found that they are bearable and I’m a wimp 😅 I know it’s easy to say not to worry but you’ll have so much support from the nurses and just think, as it’s planned there’s nobody rushing so it’ll all go smoothly! x
I had a spinal block as wasn’t not able to have an epidural due to having a metal spine. You will be absolutely fine. I LOVED mine! I went into Labour naturally but it was all still chilled. They take you down to theatre when it’s your time, you walk there. The aneastists will do there thing whilst people potter around you, they may ask you what music you want on, once it’s all in, they will lie you down and test the numbing. You’ll be fine! I loved loved loved mine! Had such a good experience
The actual needles doesn’t hurt, I was so worried about this due to be super sensitive. No numbing is required I didn’t feel a thing
Hi! I just had a C section last week, after trying an induction for 2.5 days… I was not in labor what so ever during my spinal block and actually it was not bad at all. Just a little pinch in the back and then boom numb. Since I wasn’t in labor I was able to bend over and not move. But it’s different for everyone as you know. Try and Think positive mama and don’t over think it, but it is completely understandable, as if I knew that I was going the C section route, I probably would have been crapping myself too, but it happened so fast. I had to get my mind off of it and know after, I would get to see my bundle of joy 🩵 Best of Luck, and you know you’ve got this!
I asked this too. You'll get a local anaesthetic before the spinal lovely x
Thankyou so much everyone xo
I was sprayed on my back, then needles to numb and then to spinal block. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be xx
From what I can remember they do numb you first. Like a spray that they allow a minute or so to work. I had two epidurals and eventually a spinal with my first and I can honestly say I didn’t feel a thing when they gave me the spinal.
