Gestational diabetes test 😥

Can anyone tell me the experiences they've had? Never had this with my first 7 years ago and my bmi is 30.4 and I have a test tomorrow which I'm quite anxious about. I've not had any symptoms and baby Is measuring normal. Other than being 0.4 over the threshold there's no other reason why I'm going, slightly frustrating because this pregnancy has been so stressful with all these appointments and growth scans. Starting to really affect my confidence 🥺

Heyyy I’ve had the gestational diabetes test. Purely based on your/my bmi. Honestly don’t stress it, just 1 more check up on yourself & bubba. It’s just routine for them to tick the boxes. That is what I told myself xxx

Thank you, honestly just feel like theh are constantly looking for things wrong it's really annoying. I've got 6 appointments in weeks and it just seems a lot. I've had a healthy pregnancy before so it just baffles me. I think I'm more annoyed because I've not had any symptoms or anything 🙃 my midwife is just constant and on my first pregnancy i didn't have half as many appointments and fuss. Can't wait for him to come and won't be having anymore until I lose weight because I'm not doing this again 🙈 xxx

Ahhh bless you. It does feel like constant appointments doesn’t it. I wonder if you can opt out of some of them? Maybe tell your midwife that this isn’t your first rodeo & that you are feeling overwhelmed xxx

I feel like I'm being dragged in all directions 🙃 I think I'll definitely be saying something to my midwife. It's extremely overwhelming as I have a 6 year old who's disabled and I work so I don't get 5 minutes. I'm also getting married in 2 weeks so I have enough on my plate 🙈😆 xxx

Absolutely speak up & say you only want essential tests etc & congratulations on the wedding, try not to get yourself all worked up hunni xxxx

I had it with my first due to bmi. I was sick with the drink so got rebooked to go again but I refused as I had horrific morning sickness throughout my whole pregnancy and the drink just made it worse so I knew I wouldn’t keep it down again. They made me check my bloods myself at home 3 times a day and record it on app that linked to the hospital for a week. All was fine and that was the end - I would recommend this way over the drink any day! I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second and because he was a big baby I have to go through it all again but I am going to request the bloods I think as I am very sick again with this one! X

I’d go to it. It’s much better to be tested and find out you’ve got it if you have early on then Risk any complications with you baby. I had it with my pregnancy and it’s hard and can cause some issues but only if it’s uncontrolled etc. Also I thought the drink was quite nice (clearly can see how I had it😂🤦‍♀️) but yeah deffo worth getting it checked and then when it’s negative you can relax knowing it’s all ok ❤️x

I've had it with all 3 of mine due to bmi. With my 1st and 2nd it was lucozade so it was better, this 1 is the overly sweet glucose drink and its vile. I cant stand overly sweet stuff so I need to talk to midwife if there is an alternative way
