Was the doctor right to say this ?

Over a year ago i had Laparoscopy to diagnose endometriosis . It was my first one and my only symptom really was bad pain during sex along with a couple other mild symptoms . After the op the doctor came in and said we found some but she said you cant call yourself a endo patient as it was a little amount i felt like i was abit of a inconvenience to her but happy that it was cleard out. Anyway at the momment all of my endo symptoms have come back but 10 times worse and im experienceing even more symptoms then last time . I have made another appointment to get checked out as im struggling but what the doctor said who treated me last time is bugging me . Why would she say that makeing me feel like i shouldent have made such a fuss or was she right to say that as she cleard out a small amount ? Its makeing me feel a little nervous about asking for help again .

If you have cancer but it's caught early and all removed, you still had cancer. Same goes for anything. You have Endometriosis and your feelings and your health are important. Get checked. Can you request a different doctor? I hope everything goes well ❤️

Omg I’m sorry she said that to you!!! Your symptoms and pain are valid. Every stage of endo is painful. Endo is endo no matter how little / how much you have it’s all valid!!! Hopefully when you have your appointment with her this time she will be nicer / more understanding since she did find endo the first time! Good luck!

Endo girl here and my surgeon said, it’s not the amount of growth it’s where it is, so small or large areas of endo don’t make a difference. You could have the smallest growth of endo but where it’s growing is what determines the pain level. Your pain is valid and sounds like she just got up on the wrong side of bed! Took 20 years for someone to listen to me about my pain. Keep pushing! Xx

That's a load of crap. Ignore her. It is widely known in Gynaecology that the extent of disease is not related to the amount of pain! Ask to be referred to someone else through choose and book if you don't want to see her again. You might find that whoever you see is more keen on trying hormonal treatments rather than another laparoscopy though. Just because the more you have the higher the risk of bowel/bladder damage. Xx

Thankyou for the replies has made me feel loads better as this was my logic also , surely if its there its there and haveing it removed made a world of difference up until now . She also dident give me any of this info that are on the replies or the chances of it comeing back and what treatment options would be if it comes back she just kept repeating that im not a endo patient and i should not call myself one . I litterly feel like im telling a lie when i tell people im suffering with endometriosis and i shouldn't say it even though thats what i experienced and going through now . Im hopeing my gp can send me to a clinc thats closer to me and also has better rateings so fingers crossed x

I had the coil fitted at the same time I had the endo removed as my surgeon told me this would stop it growing back! Obvs not ideal for anyone TTC but once it’s out, there’s no delay in your cycle coming back etc! X

@Lauren really ! She took my copper coil out when she did my surgery as she said the copper coil would make my endo worse . Was yours copper or hormonal coil ? X

Was the surgery done by an endometriosis specialist or just a regular gyne? If it wasn’t done by a specialist I wouldn’t trust she just missed things. The amount of endo means literally nothing. You can have a spot the size of a coin and be in agony daily, or you can be covered in it and never know until you have surgery for something unrelated. Regardless, the way she spoke was unacceptable! It’s hard enough getting treatment without people like that, I’m sorry x

@Sophie copper ones can. The hormonal ones tend to work well. X

@Sophie yeah I had the mirena coil fitted, it came out June 2022 so we could start TTC and my periods have been like night and day since xxx

She might just not have been a very good surgeon?? But amount of endo material isn’t coordinated with the amount of pain, they’ve found that, I’d find a better doctor. You’re valid.
