Has anyone Birthed at Maidstone Birth Centre?

What was your experience like? I have a viewing tomorrow. Only thing scaring me is no epidural. But this is second pregnancy so hopefully he comes quick!

I did, 8 months ago, having attended the Hypnobirthing classes that they hold there a couple months’ prior (would recommend if you’re nervous about limited pain relief). The midwives are really very good; calm, friendly, supportive and my experience was very unobtrusive start to finish. I had the same midwife throughout (they do 12 hour shifts each). Following the birth, you get given your own bedroom and bathroom to recover in and the midwives encourage you to stay as long as you need. Whilst there’s a communal kitchen, we got a food delivery (midwives happy with it). Our peace of mind when deciding to go with the birthing centre was with the understanding that if any emergency occurred, we had the Maidstone hospital right next door to blue light us to Pembury Hospital. You’ll get a good feel for the place and meet some of the midwives when you visit tomorrow, but I will say, that if I am lucky enough to have a second baby one day, it’s certainly where I’ll want to go back to!

I did a tour recently, for me our first was a very quick arriver so I'm thinking of staying at ashford. However it was beautiful and they seemed lovely. Felt more like a hotel. I wish I lived a bit closer. They did say my first birth would of likeky been a hospital transfer due to meconium in waters but they'd not of transferred if he was coming at speed. They were super informative and helpful when I went. I'm hoping ashfords MLU opens soon but can't quite decide
