@Jen I eat 2-3 meals but not too many snacks I haven’t really had an appetite since I been diagnosed. I been diagnosed since 13 weeks. I told my doctor and she just said to make sure to eat even when not hungry
@Gabrielle Reid keeping your sugar levels constant is key otherwise it's like a roller coaster. Food equals sugar spike, no matter what you eat, but of course the healthier balanced choices will give you the better sugar spike you need. Try doing smaller meals if you're not hungry throughout the day. Your meals shouldn't be big either. They didn't give you a chart or something to estimate your caloric intake per meal?
My numbers are lower on days I workout, I'm 34 weeks and it's not been too bad so far, maybe try that.
@Jen they didn’t give me a calorie limit they gave me a booklet with what foods are carbs and what foods aren’t
@Sami now that I’m thinking about it when I ate the food I wasn’t supposed to on my vacation I ended up walking it off because we walked every where I went and my numbers weren’t high at all
@Gabrielle Reid honestly I didn't stick with my caloric intake lol.. but I kept with the foods. Just do 6 small meals.. walk walk walk.. that was extremely helpful for me. I'd go walking twice a day. Just remember carbs turn into sugar obviously sugar is sugar, so try to stay away from refined carbs and eat complex carbs. But stick with protein and fiber rich foods.
GD is progressive so sometimes as good as your diet is your body still end up needing a bit of extra help towards the end. You can try a snack before bed with plenty of protein and a bit of fat as these are slower release and may help morning fasting numbers. I had to have insulin in my second pregnancy as not matter what I did my fasting numbers went up. It just happens sometimes 🤷♀️
What have you been doing to stay on track? 3 balances meals and 3 snacks? Most important for me was my bedtime snack that kept my fasting number controlled. Also water water water. Tons of walking. Also, if you have to be on insulin don't think it isn't because you haven't tried.. sometimes you just can't control it on your own.
