When I did mine, my doctor asked me to fast for two hours prior the test

I would stick to eggs! and then eat w.e after. Some doctors tell you to fast but my doctor told me not to eat any starchy or sugary foods before the test ( including juice)

I took mine 2 weeks ago , was told I didn’t have to fast , I ended up not eating because I did it at 10 in the morning but they didn’t tell me what I couldn’t eat . And when I got there the nurse didn’t ask me anything pertaining to eating . The drink tasted like fruit punch , everyone told me it was super sweet but I didn’t think that at all and it was in an 8 oz water bottle which I honestly chugged cuz I thought it tasted really good ! Lol

@selena hahah same here!! But I had to fast from the night before.. but honestly the drink wasn’t even bad I was shocked

@Rebekah I wouldn’t risk it, I’ve never heard of people being allowed to eat before the test? I’m pretty sure you have to fast from the night before?

My ob gave me the drink to bring home and directions for it on what to do. While I was at my appt on Friday , my doctor and OB both told me not to fast bc there's more of a chance of failing it that way. She told me to eat normal foods , just nothing high in sugar like donuts or cookies or anything like that. I did eat a bowl of cereal cause it's what I had. But not a big bowl. So we'll see !

@Rebekah oh I see, I guess they do it different in the US, in the uk we don’t eat anything after midnight only water, and they take a blood test before you have the drink and then another blood test 2hrs after the drink.. only then you only be allowed to eat

Eat something high in protein and healthy fats, low in carb and sugar as to not spike your blood sugar. Every doctor is different it seems and will tell you different things, so try to consult them to get their recommendations but I have my test this Thursday and that’s what my midwife and OB told me to do!

I did mine last week. You can eat before the test but once you drink the drink you cannot eat or drink anything after. The test should also be taken within 1 hour of the drink. Good luck!

I had mine today . I have set up my appointment first thing in the morning. I was fasting since 9 hrs when I reached lab . They gave me an orange juice drink waited for an hour after consumption. I was asked not to move around or do any physical activity during that waiting hour. They drew the blood and I’m done.

What kind of cereal did you eat. And how far before the drink did you have it
