Taste of Ready to Drink Formula

My little girl is mostly EBF. Every now and then she has a bottle with expressed breast milk and we are now trying to introduce formula. She’s had a couple made from powder but so that we weren’t wasting open tins of formula I bought a few of the ready to drink bottles. We’ve tried them the last two nights and she has completely refused it - does it taste different to powder made up?! I was really hoping she’d take it just the same so we can buy them as and when we need them. I’m sure it’s not the bottle but have even bought a different bottles to try to make sure it’s not that. Any once else had any experience with this?!

When I first tried my lo on formula (around 3/4 months old) he would only take it from his dad, think he’d get frustrated and confused that I wasn’t breastfeeding. Although when we started combi feeding properly at 7 months he’d started to refuse the breast if we were out and about so it was a bit easier. But maybe try and see if he’ll take it from somebody else? X

I also used to do bottles 3oz formula and 4oz breast milk when I first introduced it x

@Isobel I never give her the bottle it’s always her Dad and I come completely out the way. It’s so strange as she has taken bottles fine, it’s just the past two nights with the ‘ready to drink’ formula that she’s refused.

Ooh I see sorry I misread it! maybe try a taste of them and compare 😅

Yes ours do taste and smell different :) x

Do you give it room temperature or warmed up?. I found my LO takes the ready to feed bottles better when warmed up.

We used to give my girls the bottles when we were out and about for ease but they would maybe have 1oz and even that was painful. When we started taking powder out in pots, they'd down the whole bottle 🤣🤣 but when I thought about it, it's essentially long life milk and I cant stand long life milk either 🤣🤣 xxx

@Molly you’re so right! I just thought it would be better to buy as we don’t use it that often. I’m gonna buy some powder again and hope she takes it!

@Nicole yes it’s always warmed up x
