Cervical exam

Anyone else thought the cervical exams to check how dilated were the worst part of the whole process? I cried a few times because it was unbearable 😳and the pessary too…

I don’t know what I thought cervical exams would be like but it definitely was not that! I had to grip the sheets really hard to stop myself shouting or screaming 🤣

@Alison honestly i had to have about 4 and I’d just panic so much 😭😹

Oh gosh they were rough weren't they! It's when they get to the cervix and then through to the baby's head.... I can feel the pain just thinking about it 😂

I had a cervical exam a few weeks ago and it was so much more uncomfortable than any other time I’ve had a speculum! Horrid

I near enough head butted the wall! I had no idea it would feel like that!

I’ve opted out. They’re largely unnecessary and just cause undue stress.

I had a couple of sweeps and a couple of exams whilst in latent labour to check dilation. The first sweep was uncomfortable but okay, the second she was super rough and hurt like hell! Neither worked... Both my dilation checks were fine, didn't hurt, didn't feel uncomfortable, though the last one I was in so much pain I barely noticed her doing it lol she even waited in there for a contraction to check the pressure or something I guess 😅
