I have cyclizine and major side effects of drozyness sobhad to stop as low in Energy anyway. Dry crackers before getting put of bed in a morning has helped me a bit with sickness and if I have a couple just as laying down at night helps with heartburn too xxx
Have you tried Unisom and B6? Helped me tremendously when taken before bed. If you’re taking any iron or folic acid in your prenatal, try taking that right before bed too. For some reason, that can make the nausea worse. Sounds like you could also use some electrolytes for the dizziness. I also supplement with magnesium to help with my muscles cramping/seizing. I found that salty almonds were the only thing I could eat for awhile there; it drove me crazy. I’ve had the malaise feeling too where you just feel generally sick/unwell. Some days your body will force you to rest. I’d much rather nap the day away than spend the following day hugging the toilet! I hope you’ll run these suggestions by your midwife and try them. They helped me get past some rough days 💕
@Michelle unisom and b6 is called xonvea in the UK, I'm taking it and I agree it does help. Unfortunately there's a national shortage here at the moment, it's hit and miss which areas can get it which is such a shame as I think it's definitely the best one out there
@Michelle thank you really appreciate it 😊 where can I get unisom and b6? X
@Natalie oh that makes sense why I've not heard if it! Where are you able to get it if you can? Xx
@Natalie thank you for your advise 😊 its really not nice feeling this sick is it! Pregnancy can be so rough. Where did you get xonvea from? X
You need to go back to your gp and explain that the cyclizine isn't working. They might try and prescribe promethazine first but to be honest it's very similar to cyclizine. I'd ask them if they can prescribe xonvea straight away, it's actually the only one that is licensed for use in pregnancy so it's perfectly safe x
@Natalie I went back once and they did give me promethazine but I'm too scared to take it incase I get similar side effects and also in the leaflet it says "do not take if pregnant of breastfeeding" so I've not even tried one 🙈 oh that sounds better thanks I'll give it a try x
I'd maybe try them first then. I had hyperemesis in my 2nd pregnancy, I was sick up to 30 times a day and was hospitalised a few times. The promethazine completely worked that time when they prescribed me it. I have no idea why it isn't working this time, it just makes me really sleepy like the cyclizine. I took it from 12 until 24 weeks last time and my daughter is perfectly fine so don't worry about that x
Hi, I'm nearly 11 weeks and I feel just the same. I'm now on my 4th lot of prescription meds, cyclizine also did nothing for me and made it worse as I was so sleepy and spaced out on them. I'm now taking xonvea, it's not amazing and I am still sick but I've noticed I'm so much worse if I miss a dose so they're obviously doing something. I didn't take them the night before last and I was throwing up all day yesterday it was awful. I totally know what you mean, it's like being really ill. I feel so weak and it just feels wrong somehow. I actually rang pregnancy sickness support yesterday and they were amazing, gave me loads of advice on meds and told me I can actually increase the dose I'm taking now if I need to. I really would recommend contacting them if you're feeling like you can't cope x
