First day pumping

So my little man is currently in the NICU after being born 8 weeks early just wondering if this is a good amount for my first pump. They want me to express every 3 hours thinking I may need to invest in bags instead of syringes now.

That’s amazing! Well done.

@Holly I managed to get 8ml so hopefully that'll be a good start for him. Just want to do whatever I can for him to help and get him home with me x

That’s really good baby getting liquid gold ❤️

You’re doing so well. Sending you love and positivity x

I managed only 1mL maybe less. You are doing great!!

@Cassie I got 0.6ml hand expression this morning this was my first time on the pump x

Yeah well done 🤗 your real milk will come in soon too it changes after a few weeks again too

This is great. Everyday you’ll produce more and usually by day 3, milk will start coming in. My son arrived 9 weeks early and the NICU lactation nurse helped me hand express and I was so excited by 1ml. By day 3 it was really flowing and ended up with 10 syringes full in one session plus a couple of little containers. It’s wild how the body adapts.

That's a very good amount for your first pump and that looks like almost 100% colostrum. Very good for your baby

That's amazing! My boy was also 8 weeks early! The hospital should provide everything you need to express and store the milk x

My girl was 7 weeks early. This looks amazing! The hospital will provide bottles to store milk in but they take up so much space - I definitely recommend milk bags (lie them flat to freeze so they stack better.) When your milk comes in, also store in small quantities. I filled while bottles/bags and so much got wasted as she'd never drink it all quickly enough before it had been thawed for too long. You got this 💪🏽

You're doing GREAT X
