Nervous due to scans measuring bigger

Hello, I am going through so much anxiety right now due to being told my baby is measuring big they have said the head and belly measurements are bigger than what they should be! Has anyone else been told they are having big babies and can’t stop thinking about it

My baby is the same! His tummy is off the percentile chart! They just said to me I might have to have a c section at 37 weeks if he carry’s on growing at the rate he is! I’m choosing not to worry as they will do what’s safest for baby at the end of the day!

the measurements always confuse me! They told me I was measuring 2 weeks ahead and my baby was already 3lbs 11oz at 29 weeks, I have just been diagnosed with GDM so this probably hasn’t helped. But I can’t stop overthink everything now😩

Formal guidance for babies of non diabetic mums that are predicted to be big for their mum is awaited. Some places offer induction at 39 weeks or section. The theory is to reduce the risk of shoulder dystocia. If babies are more than 4.5kg section is usually recommended and definitely recommended if over 5kg but under that or just out of range on customised growth charts is bit up in the air until the results of a trial are out. Where I work we offer induction/section at 39 weeks. I can screenshot the decision making aid we give to parents if anyone is interested. The 10-15% discrepancy is the problem. That can be either way. The vast majority of babies predicted to be big for their mum will be delivered with no issues whatsoever. Xx

@Jo I have recently been told I have diabetes, so I’m expecting this to be the reason why they are measuring bigger? Would the screenshot of the decision making be beneficial for me to see if I have that? Or is it for non diabetic people? Xx

I can find the one for diabetic women too! If you're happy to, send me a message with your email address and I can email it. Or I can screen shot it and send it on peanut messages. Promise there will be no mention in public of who you are since you've gone incognito. X

Measuring via ultrasound isn’t always accurate. 15% either way of what they have predicted for you and in some cases way out! My friend was meant to have a 9lb baby after a growth scan and the baby was 6lb 7oz!

I’ve had this! Measuring over the 95th centile! I don’t have GD but my husband is 6’3” and both our nephews (on his side) were almost 10lb babies! I think it’s just genetics! Im nervous for what this all actually means and having to wait 2 weeks for the consultant appointment is torturous as I have so many questions! I have so much hope for a natural birth and I hate that I may have to make a decision to have a c section! Although I would never think this about other ppl I just feel like not trying to labour my baby is somehow failing!
