Natural delivery when breech

Hey all, My baby girl was head down from 20 weeks until 31 weeks then she flipped into breech. My 32 week scan confirmed. I am now 35 weeks midwife pretty certain she is still breech. 36 week scan to confirm. This is my second baby - 1st baby was delivered at home naturally no pain relief extremely quickly 2.5 hours start to finish. I am wanting to try deliver naturally again. Any experiences of 2nd baby breech natural delivery please? X

Hey hun, I’m in the same boat, baby was head down 14 and 20 weeks and at 32 he was breach I have my 36 week scan next week… This is my first, and they will try to scare you as it’s easier for them and “safer” on their pockets to make you do a C-section. I have tried spinning babies, my next trick if needed is an ECV. I’m following my instincts. Babies are meant to be born our bodies are meant to get them out. I will follow my instincts on no csection until it is life or death. I truly truly think my body can and will handle it just fine. People on here will also judge you and scare you I’ve tried this route as well. Do your research, weigh your pros and cons make your informed decision. If you want a homebirth again I’d say go for it have someone trusted there ready to do something IF something goes wrong. I think you’ll be just fine as will I. If you ever want or need to talk my DMs are open. You got this mama.

Breech deliveries can be perfectly safe. It's normally health professionals experience with breech that makes them suggest other routes my baby turned footling breech during labour so anything is possible. I did end up with a c section and it was still a very positive experience

@Bella yes I’ve been trying spinning baby techniques since I found out at 32 weeks! Also been to the chiropractor to get my pelvis realigned and due to go again on Friday for my second session. Have also been told about moxibustion - not sure if it’s something you want to look at? My 36 week scan is next monday! When is yours? Xx

@Jodie wow they truly do have a mind of their own! I keep going back to the thought of baby knows best! X

@IzzieE I don’t have extra money since I moved late in pregnancy and can’t get another job. So the money costing one’s are out unfortunately. So I have spinning babies and hope lol. My 36 week is next Wednesday the 11th 🥴 I’m terrified as I’m RH- so another shot if I need to do ECV, and they worry about my blood pressure cuz when I go in it’s always crazy high.. so they keep talking induction too. Annoying. Lol

I had my first two babies naturally with just gas and air, both were difficult, had an episiotomy with my first and my second had shoulder distorter, both were 9lb when born. My 3rd was breech, I tried everything to make him turn including an ECV which was unsuccessful. I went for the c section even though a c section has always been my worst fear but if I struggled to deliver with head down babies I’m not sure how I would have coped with a bum first baby, plus he was predicted to be big, was actually only 8lb 2oz. I struggled mentally after for months with the c section, was told I had post natal anxiety but I strongly feel it stemmed from trauma from the c section (even though it went fine) but I definitely would have been worse with an emergency c section. Go with your instinct. Lots of people have breech deliveries naturally but lots also end up with emergency c sections. X

They can flip every which way until they come out so…you dk which way they will be for delivery anyway. My daughter was breech around 35, 36-38 week until about 40 weeks but head down before that for a long time. I did ice packs to move her head down again & spinning babies stuff which all worked but yeah they move around until the end.

@Sam my first born was 6.9 and out pretty easily which is helping settle my mind if I do have to try deliver breech. I am going to go for an ECV as well I think once I’ve had my 36 week scan and see what happens from there xx

@Marie wow thank you so nice to hear about the late turner I am keeping everything crossed!! What did you do with the ice packs as I will try? Xx

@IzzieE i basically kept them on my abdomen under my breasts/ diaphragm all day everyday to get her to turn head down. I noticed she had turned when my rib pain subsided & she felt “ dropped down” basically.

@Marie amazing I will start to try this tomorrow when I’m at work sitting down. Did you have a natural delivery after she turned? Xx

@IzzieE yes it was a vaginal birth w/no issues.

@Bella I had my scan today and baby is still breech! Having an ECV next Thursday to try turn her if she hasn’t turned herself by then. Hope you’re ok x

@IzzieE I find out more later today… I wish you the best! If you have to do an ECV tell me how it goes..? Sending love and well wishes, and I hope babe turns on her own for you 😭❤️

@Bella Yes I will do! Keep me updated on your journey! X

@IzzieE I have my ECV scheduled for Tuesday I’m so nervous 😭 not to do it or the pain more for if it doesn’t work 😭

@Bella still not turned? Just remember you are doing all you can do to help them turn and if they don’t they don’t. The baby knows best and there will be a reason why they aren’t turning yet x

@IzzieE I’m trying I’m just scared for if this ECV doesn’t work…

@Bella you can still deliver naturally. I have already told my hospital that is my preference x

@IzzieE my doc said if ECV doesn’t work he’ll schedule a C-section at 39 weeks. I told him no he said I have to if he’s breech 🙃 I know they can’t force me to do a C-section if I don’t want to… but they can sure make me think that till last minute apparently.

@Bella really? Perhaps because you are in the US. That’s really unfair! Keeping everything crossed xx

@Bella hey how did you get on with the ECV? Mine was unsuccessful xx

@Bella yeah my doc did that to me at 35/36 weeks. I was scheduled for a Section on 06/25/21. I was upset that they tried so early but went for more checkups each week & had another ultrasound that showed she turned head down at 38 weeks & I never went on the 25th. My waters broke on 07/01/21 and she was still head down & born that day vaginally. I would be fine with a section if I really needed it but didn’t want to go through that surgery & recovery if I didn’t absolutely need one. The ice packs worked at moving her bc I felt the shifting. I think it’s just standard procedure for doctors to schedule them ahead, but I dk why they don’t wait until 40 weeks at least if there isn’t anything else going on.

@IzzieE it hurt like a bitch “, but mine was thus far successful… how do they deem them successful or unsuccessful? Would she just not cooperate with going head down..?

@Marie I am too scared of a section I think bub was just too big to flip on his own… it physically hurt when he got his head into position… it like popped into place… now he’s obsessed with stretching and moving like he’s happy to have more room lol idk why they do it so early. I think it’s so you have to get a section they scare women into thinking it’s safer… when in reality baby can flip back depending on size and fluid up until delivery day… sections are just easier on doctors. Shocker.

@Bella yes very uncomfortable. They just couldn’t get her bum out of pelvis, couldn’t get the hands underneath she was too low down. It’s deemed unsuccessful if they can’t turn them. They could move her top half but not the bottom! X
