Bottle rot

So my 3 year old son went to the dentist today. They said he has really bad bottle rot and he will need surgery to cap his teeth and pull them. They also said he can't have juice anymore. Just water or milk. They said if no surgery he will always have infections. Has anyone had bad bottle rot and didnt do surgery and tried other things to help? We really can't afford it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Get a second opinion

I agree, get a second opinion.

Okay. So surgery isn't a forced option? I dont want to be a bad mom but i also dont want to just give in

I would get a second opinion , but that same thing happened to my 3 year old from nursing. She has caps on some of her teeth and the 3 in the front unfortunately couldn't be saved but she's thriving and has adapted well without them.

Speaking as someone who has frequent gum infections, please just make sure you don't drag out the issue too long. Get the second opinion and look into your options, but don't put it on the back burner for months - even if the reason is the cost (financing and Care Credit may be an option for you). These infections can be very painful and distracting. And the more they occur, the more they can lead to other health issues.
