Also it takes more than 20’mins for insulin to work when pregnant so bolus 30 mins before food to avoid spikes and nothitn with white flour in ideally
@Jemima thanks Jemima -i have had mulitple meetings with my diabetic nurses who are trying to work out what to do- just frustrating want my levels to be as tight as they were when i wasnt pregnant :( but i guess its a massive learning curve x
I have just gone onto control IQ on the tandem pump which will hopefully help but lets see
Yes a pump will help loads and I’m 13 weeks and you will find you need to change your insulin rations almost weekly which is annoying but worth it for high control
@Jemima i have been bolusing 40 minutes before which i thought was more than enough!
@Jemima thanks so much for your advice
Hi this is totally normal due to your hormones. Your 1st trimester you will be insulin resistant. If you’re on a pump increase your basal by 20% and then try and eat low carb and increase you insulin to carb ratios when you bolus. Personally I would speak to your type 1 pregnancy team
