At home membrane sweep

Hi, I know it’s not recommended to do a stretch and sweep at home but I’m getting impatient and want to give it a go. I was thinking my partner could give it a try. Have any of you tried it yourself? If so, any tips?

Just be mindful that if it’s your first baby they say it’s really difficult to reach your cervix unless it’s already open. My midwife refused to give me a sweep because sometimes it just caused more pain than what it’s worth. If you’ve lost some or all of your plug that’s a good indication you’ll be able to reach it. And sterile hands of course… good luck!

I wouldn’t recommend doing it yourself, I had one with the doctor on Thursday and it hurt so bad you should go to your midwife or doctor just to be on the safe side. Have they not offered you one? If not ask them x

You run a big risk of breaking your waters without a medical professional. Strongly advise against this. How many weeks are you? Can you ask for one? Xx

Just ask a professional for one? Also how many weeks are you? If you are past your due date you should have been offered a sweep already? Just remember I know it's hard waiting for baby...Trust me I'm fed up as well...I'll be 40 weeks on Monday but baby is safe and healthy where it is x

Probably a big risk of infection and pressing yop hard if you don't know what you're doing..maybe juts hold out a little longer just to be safe. It's not really worth it surely?

Hey, I wouldn’t. Sweeps in general risk infection and popping your waters, but to have someone who isn’t trained increases that risk. It can also fail if you’re not dilated anyway. I’d recommend other ways to induce labour instead - walk, on an exercise ball, etc. hope you feel better x

I tried (3rd baby, 37 weeks) and i couldn’t reach my cervix lol x
