It’s unique and tbh it’s a sweet name with a sweet meaning and a loving meaning. If that’s what you want to call the bubbba call the bubba that!!!!! Xxx
I think it's lovely youve found a way to keep your families name alive. I'd go for Riven and as long as you are happy that's all that matters
I love unusual names and think that’s lovely and it has sentiment too so you if you love it then do it ❤️
I think that's actually quite a nice name, but I think you should be prepared for people to mistake it for River
I mean this in the best possible way. Are you absolutely sure that’s how it’s pronounced? Are you sure it’s not just accent that makes it sound like that to you? I’d given some serious thought as to whether he will be happy with that name growing up. And double and triple check the pronunciation. And think about him working as an adult, with that name. I think it could cause him a lot of unnecessary stress in life. Maybe consider it as a middle name if you are wanting to include it. To be fair, if you spelling it “Riven”, then it will be pronounced like that, as you want it to be. I don’t know. I’m still not fully convinced. Just give it some thought, as he then has it throughout life. Think I’d lean toward having it as a middle name, if having it.
I like your thought process behind it. But I agree with what @Rosa said also ppl may think you were trying to spell river and it was a spelling mistake possible which is what I thought when I saw the post in my notification bar before reading the whole post
I love it! And you love it so that’s what matters but if you are worried about it maybe make it a middle name instead!
You can apply for a job with the name riven so yeah.
I think it's a beautiful name with a great story, it may be mispronounced/misspelled but I had a first AND second name that was also hard for some people and it didn't bother me too much 🤷
Oh, I love this! I think it's easy to pronounce and spell while being unique. It's a lovely name.
In Edinburgh it would be pronounced Riven and I think it’s lovely 😊 it’s unusual but it certainly isn’t so out there that it would confuse people. When I was a kid I hated having a name that wasn’t common but when I grew up I learnt to appreciate it!xx
I like it 🥰
@Tasmin see I grew up in the south west and I knew 2 Tasmin’s growing up. So maybe you were just the wrong end of the country 😉 Also I agree, my name isn’t common, it’s not uncommon or unusual but it’s used early and I never managed to get any hiring with my name on in the gift shop 😅
@Rosa that’s 100% how it’s pronounced. I don’t mind people getting the spelling wrong or misreading it the first time as I work in a school and it happens every day with even the common names. I have a super easy last name think Evans and we get it pronounced like an ‘even’ number or people utterly miss the s and call us Evan. So to me as long as it can be pronounced and spelled phonetically and it’s a name on the shorter side (so it’s easy for the child to learn in reception) it’s good to go

Oh wow I’ve literally never met anyone with the same name as me! I never managed to get anything with my name on but the great thing about that these days is you can get pretty much everything personalised. There are so many totally unique and out there names that people use, how nice that you can use something that has sentimental value to it ☺️x
@Yasmin same! People can pronounce my name but they don’t remember it as it’s very similar to a common one. And my last names easy but people still try to put their own spin on it 😅
Thank you, yes I agree. My current youngest (until this one is here) is Oakley and I get all his things personalised online. Aw really? I think it’s because Tamsin is Cornish so a lot of people like it but it became a little more common so the parents have it a twist to Tasmin for variety. I think it’s pretty
@Rosa that is how it’s pronounced, quick google search will tell you that. I’m sure she knows how to pronounce her mothers maiden name lol
@Kylie I appreciate that. It seems to be in Aberdeenshire that it’s pronounced like that. Any Ruthvens I’ve come across are pronounced as it’s written. I completely apologise for any offence ☺️ Lovely name 💕
I think it’s cute and a little mystical sounding. Like a wizard. I love it.
I love it. There are MUCH weirder names out there
I love it! A gorgeous name and lovely back story too x
Really nice name, I’d go for it!
River
Like the name Riven, mentioned River to my other half but he wasn’t keen, but I would of used it x
