Hot shot method

Can anyone help me figure out the hot shot method please 🤦‍♀️😂 LB won't drink from the prep machine anymore. I understand the amounts but I'm confused once you've done the boiling water and added the powder how do you then top the bottle up with cooled boiled as the powder will have displaced the amount in the boiling water. Do you have to measure out the cooled boiled in something else and pour in? Also I'm guessing the jug you keep in the fridge with the cooled water doesn't have to be sterile? Thanks 😊

I used to keep the cooled boiled water in baby bottles in the fridge and fill it to the top line, I think 8-9oz? Then you can use that as a guide to pour a measured amount if that makes sense? So if it’s full to 8oz and you need 3 you’d pour until there’s 5oz left.

I keep about 8oz of cooled boiled water in another bottle measured! Then make the hot shot depending how much formula it is! Then mix it in, add the cooled boiled water! Bear in mind this may not be drinking temp right away due to a kettle coming out much warmer than the prep machine! So you maybe still need to wait a little bit, but not as long as a full bottle of boiling. Hope that makes sense?

I have a flask of boiling water and a baby bottle of cooled boiled water. Baby is on 6oz a feed so I pour in 3oz of the hot water out of the flask, then 6 scoops of formula into the water, shake it. Then I use the MAM bottle lid to measure out the other 3oz (they have the measurements on them!) shake and feed. Sometimes it needs cooling down under cold water, but most of the time it’s fine! X

Thank you all 😊 I'm understanding it now 😂
