I ended up pushing the baby out while the midwives were catching her breath by the window. You can’t fault them, they were really tired and thought I was sleeping. So the baby landed on the bed. After everything, I developed pre-eclampsia in Labor and was admitted in the hospital for 6 days. Baby also developed infection after that, and was admitted at Royal Manchester Children’s hospital. Because she stayed in-utero for more than 24 hours after my water broke.
I was induced in November at Tameside & haven’t a bad word to say other than they woke me up at 4am to start the induction 🤣 the midwives that were on shift were lovely & so helpful. I went in 2pm Sunday, had the pessary 4am Monday & contractions started midday. Got taken to the labour ward Tuesday morning around 9am & ended with an emergency section just before 4pm because her head was sideways & wasn’t moving 🙃 x
Is your birth partner allowed to stay with you throughout the induction process? Just thinking with them starting it at 4am. Visiting times are over then x
And how come they waited till the next day? Mines booked in Friday, they’ve told me to have my phone on loud Friday morning for them to tell me a time to come in. Does that mean I could expect to not have the induction start Friday?
@Raine birth partners can be there 10am to 8pm on the induction ward. Once you’re on labour ward they can stay any time ☺️ so I was on my own when I was induced but I just went back to sleep once it was done. I got the call on Sunday morning but when I got there I was put on the monitor & was having tightenings so they didn’t start it then as it could stress the baby out so waited 12 hours x
@Raine yes, they’re allowed to stay.
I got induced at tameside at 39 weeks and had a great experience, was induced at 5pm. Partner had to go at 8pm but then I went into labour at 11:30pm so he came back, she was born at 6:51am the next morning. I had the pessary and hormone drip, only pain relief was gas and air. I couldn’t fault any of the midwives and doctors at all! Xxx
I don’t have any info on induction but I had my son 8 weeks early at Tameside and they were amazing, I also spent 6 weeks on bed rest so got to know the nurses on maternity ward very well!!! You’ll be in good hands, good luck
Thankyou everyone xx
Hi Raine, I had my second baby there last year, and was induced. Only chose the hospital because I was working there and thought it was convenient. The Dr did a membrane sweep for me, as I was almost 40 weeks. I had a show the next day. I went back to the hospital, the midwife did a swab test to confirm that my water had actually broken. I was told the baby would need to come out within 24 hours, so I had to return to the hospital within 24hours to be induced to prevent infection. I called postnatal ward as instructed, but they seemed confused as to why the induction wasn’t done in labor ward. After series of back and forth, postnatal ward took me in after 24hours for induction, already posing risk to my baby. The labor was very painful, 6 hours in labor, still couldn’t push. I kept begging them for pain meds, as I was only on laughing gas. They were reluctant, but eventually gave me. The analgesia made me dizzy 😵💫, I kept passing out in between pushing the baby.
