iâm the same, my close mate had one and hers was successful but iv read peoples horror stories and itâs really just your own experience, coz it can be successful but then end up in an emergency c section ovbs labours unpredictable đ©đ©đ©xx
I had an ecv (by choice) yesterday but unfortunately It didn't work. Baby would turn half the way and then refuse to go any further. I am 37+3 So breech it is. I have a consultant appointment tomorrow to discuss my options but was told before the ecv that next steps would be either vaginally breech birth or elected c-section. Again, it will be my choice. Don't be bullied, be informed and tell them your choice. They are trained for vaginal breech birth but they arent common, about 4% and there are risks. On the flip side, there are risks to c-scetion. I would prefer a natural birth bit am willing to listen tomorrow to get their views.
I refused an ECV, didnât fancy it at all! Opted for the elective section which was a very calm and relaxed experience. You can talk to them about a vaginal birth, but many arenât trained in it and donât like the risks⊠As much as we may have ideal birth ideas, it doesnât always go to plan and as long as they arrive safely, how they get here does not matterâŠ. But itâs patient choice and make sure your voice is heard!
@Emma do you know if the recovery is any worse with breech c-sections?? I'm worried about hemorrhaging.
@Sky Wheeler no worse⊠same recovery and better than an emergency section too. my daughterâs head was stuck under my ribs. They do scan you when you go in for your section, just in case baby has turned (by this point, youâre really hoping they havenât!) The birth itself was the best experience, I was out of bed within 6 hours.. worst part is lying down/ getting up but you get into a roll đ
@Emma thanks for describing the experience a bit more, it's put me at ease x
@Sky Wheeler I know itâs not ideal and the thought is scary (Iâd never been in hospital before) but Iâd re-live that day forever! Good luck with whatever you decide! đ€

I had an ECV between 36-37 weeks, Dr was very confident and gave me the impression it would be easy. They managed to turn him but it was so painful, almost as painful as the labour. But everyone is different I've read stories saying it didn't hurt for some women. My baby turned back to back in the end before I went into labour and he also passed meconium. Which was thought to be due to the ecv my midwife said. I ended up having emcs anyway, we were both ok though.
