I think I accidentally got some hand sanitizer on my baby's eyes

I feel like the worst mom and now I'm freaking out that I caused damage. I was finishing changing my baby's diaper and all of a sudden he started scream crying. Nothing like we've heard before and sounding like he was hurt. This went on for about 5 mins. I think some hand sanitizer got into his eyes as I was cleaning my hands. I tried rinsing his eye when he was calmer. I'm so worried I caused long term damage. He's now asleep but I feel like the worst mom.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it was anything it was probably just a droplet. Which I imagine was fairly harmless. Call ped tomorrow if you want to play it safe. But I bet if eyes look OK tomorrow, you're ok

@Kristina thank you! I'm trying to convince myself that since he stopped crying he's ok. His eyes also don't seem red. It was really heartbreaking to hear him cry and know that I caused it huhu

If it did long term damage he’d be letting you know still!! He’d be rubbing his eyes and still be fussy. You’re okay mama!! Things happen and he’s going to be okay!! Mom guilt is awful but you being worried shows how great of a mom you are! Just give him some extra lovins 🤍🤍

You don't even know that you cause it. Honestly my girl sometimes goes from completely fine to screaming red in the face for absolutely no reason sometimes, and it can take a minute to talk her down. It's really wild, but she's fine before and after the "spell"
