@Letitia you make a bottle each time? Do you not think it’s okay to make a batch? So you cool each bottle with cold water for how long?
Yeah I make a bottle each time. At first I was dreading it but it’s not as bad as you think. I cool it for 5-10 mins. A lot of people make it up in batches but I’d be worried about bacteria growing if it’s not cooled quick enough. But I’m an overthinker! 🤣
@Letitia I divide it into each bottle so cool fairly quickly versus leaving it in the picture which would take more time to cool. Cool down within 5 to 10 minutes just sitting there or do we need to run it under cold water? How do you gauge when to make it since our babies are hungryand then super hungry. I don’t know if mine would wait 5 to 10 minutes.
I stand it in a bowl of cold water. My son feeds every 2.5-3 hours. So when it’s been 2 hours I make up a feed and cool it down then it’s ready for when he wants it. They are fine for 2 hours at room temp x
We’ve been using kendamil since we were in the hospital I fill a thermos at the beginning of the day, and then I use a nuby rapid cool bottles before making each individual formula bottle that I make throughout the other day We also use this method when we are out and about to make his formula as the nuby set comes with two small little shot pots that we fill with powder
My little ones on Kendamil. I used to make the bottles up in the morning, let them cool then put them in the fridge until needed but my little boys impatient and wants a bottle yesterday! I’ve got 2 flasks now, one with hot boiled water and one with cool boiled water. I do 1-2 oz of hot water and add formula to kill the bacteria and then make the rest of the bottle up with the cool boiled water. Perfect temperature bottle in under a minute x
@Kirsty I been doing same it’s perfect temperature and saves time with all the wait for cooling down the formula x
@Shruti hi, I’m interested in trying your method. Do you mind explaining more?
@Kirsty this is extremely helpful! I’m going to try this. Thank you. How do we know if the boiled water flask is not below the 158 degrees that’s recommended?
@Sara yes this is the part I worry about since baby gets hungry and wants a bottle asap!
@Kirsty when you use to make up bottles in the morning did you make enough for the next 24 hours? Were you concerned? Bc I’ve been making it this way… but just found out that we’re suppose to make a fresh bottle every time. And when baby wants a bottle I heated it up in a bowl of hot water
I’ve got flasks that tell me the temperature of the water. Got them from Amazon. I did make them for the next 24 hours and then used tommee tippee bottle warmer to heat them up but my little boy didn’t like waiting that long so switched to using the flasks
@Kirsty I’m going to do this! I’m glad you mentioned the 158 degrees F hot water to mix first and then adding previously boiled cooled down water so that it’s at the temp that baby can drink immediately
Sure This is the set we use https://www.boots.com/nuby-rapidcool-baby-bottle-making-kit-10308576 Has all of the bits in it
You don’t need to let the water cool for 30 minutes. It’s no longer than 30 minutes. My health visitor said it’s fine to use after a few minutes. However, I fill up a thermos flask in the morning with boiling water and use that throughout the day so it saves having to boil the kettle each time. It’s easy and doesn’t take too long to cool the bottle in cold water.
