I gave birth at Poole - specifically on the Haven ward. I have nothing but amazing things to say about it. My experience was lovely and so much of that was down to the amazing staff ☺️
i had my little girl at poole and i had a really lovely experience throughout the whole of my pregnancy and birth all the staff were lovely🥰
I had my daughter in Poole last year and had a great experience. My mum has also birthed 5 children there and never had any issues. I’m so sad they’re moving to Bournemouth.
@Erin I agree 100% the labour staff are amazing. I just felt that the post natal side/ward mainly was a bit neglectful. Please correct me if I'm wrong obviously. Maybe it was the time of year I had my two, there were just a lot of full beds/rooms x
Poole was great for me! I gave birth in March 2024 and via induction and it was a great experience. Midwife’s were lovely. And take great care of you! X
I had amazing care there. Plus lots of student midwives as extra pairs of hands
I gave birth to my daughter there in 2022 and had a lovely experience! My labour wasn't the easiest and ended in emergency c section and the staff were so kind and reassuring. They really made me feel at ease. Being on the post natal ward it felt as if they were understaffed but as others have said, they come to you as soon as possible. One of the nurses looked after my girl for a few hours whilst I slept as I was finding it difficult! X
I’ve recently had my little boy there two weeks ago. I was really nervous as I had heard horror stories but I can’t fault the staff on the labour ward. Antenatal and post natal are quite short staffed but they did their best with what they had! I’ve equally heard great things about Salisbury xx
I had my boy at Salisbury and the staff were fantastic I didn’t like the agency member of staff they had on one night during my induction but everyone else was so lovely, I would definitely recommend them but have also heard amazing things about Poole. Both are equipped to deal with extreme situations so i wouldn’t say either is better medically equipped x
Salisbury 200%. I’ve done both & honestly the care in Salisbury is far superior. Much more likely to have a private room in Salisbury & the staffing is much better & I found absolutely anyone I encountered from NICU specialist drs down to the cleaners so much nicer in Sals than Poole, parking is easier & cheaper. Just all round better experience!
Poole absoultey horrific!!
@Kate do they have many private rooms?
I had my daughter 12 years ago in haven and stayed a week. Was a surrogate 3 years ago post Covid in haven Was there a month ago with the birth of my daughter following a scan, induction etc and for all 3 staff were amazing, no complaints. Just make it abundantly clear what you want and communicate. Trust you’re in the best hands too x
I had a private room for a week before giving birth & we were transferred to Southampton 24 hours after twins were born but from what I saw yes lots of rooms!

I gave birth at Poole and had a great experience. Would rate it 100%. A work colleague gave birth in Salisbury and had such an awful time.post C-section there. However everyone has different experiences x
I was based at Poole originally and I was rushed in at 30 weeks when I went into Labour. my ecoerience at Poole was absolutely awful. Everything felt rushed. I am clinically trained myself and I saw multiple mistakes that I had to pull staff up on the professionalism was poor and I just did not feel like I was at the centre of the decisions that were being made about the care of me and my baby, I was blue lighted via ambulance to Salisbury, and I had a much better experience at Salisbury and ended up transferring my care for there and giving birth there. Atmosphere a lot more chill and I felt like I was actually being involved in decisions made about my care . Also Poole was recently under investigation by CQC ( care quality Comission) I suggest googling the CQC report for Poole maternity xx
I've been through it twice. One was great the other not so great. The staff are LOVELY it is just so busy that it does feel like you're neglected a little however they do come to you the minute they're free!
