Dear Montessori mamas, how do you call your babies? I’m a FTM, 34w4d and this question just doesn’t get answered in my mind. Traditionally, babies are called “honey” or “sweetie”.. does it align with the Montessori principles?

Please share your thoughts. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!

I didn’t realize you couldn’t call them those things. I call my son either Bubby or by his name. Can you tell me what in the Montessori principles doesn’t align? Is it the calling things by actual name?

That’s what I’m unsure about, I’ll post when I find something out. Since one of the Montessori’s principles is to have real things instead of fantasy, that’s what made me think about this. But again, it might not be worth going that deep. I hope to get some advice from a certified Montessori teacher and will post the response here as soon as I have it.

According to Montessori, parents should call their babies by their names. Ugh, that’s hard not to call them any other way!

My little boy is 8 months old and we got into a bad habit of calling him Squidge at birth🤣Now it's really hard to get out of the habit! Most of the time we call him by his name which is Arkadiusz but its a Polish name and you can also call them a shortened version which is Arek in our case. We mostly call him by his actual name x
