Baby Gate

With our LO on the move, we want to put a baby gate at the top of our stairs ( the bottom is secure as a door can be closed to close off the access). Has anyone used pressure fix gates at the top of the stairs? We are renting, so it would be the easiest, but I'm not sure it is the safest if he would be pulling up or leaning on the gate.

Pressure gates aren't the safets. The bottom of the gate can easily be knocked out and the pressure is lost due to frequent use. I've had a pressure gate and switched to a fixed wooden one and I can't complain.

@Claudia thank you

From someone who has two big dogs pressure fittings do not work we have to constantly keep moving it back, and it’s even stripped the gloss off our frames. We’ve just moved so got to buy the wall fittings. At least if we move again the small holes will only need a bit of filler

We have a pressure fit gate up in the doorway to our kitchen as we don’t have a door. It’s been there 4 years and we’ve not had any problems. I know the top of the stairs is slightly different and more dangerous if it comes loose, but our girls both swing on it no issue. It came with some sticky back cups to put on the wall and then the pressure fit gate ends goes in those. They seem to help it stay in place and not slip around. Might be more renter friendly than screws 🤷🏻‍♀️
