Ondansetron dosage

Hi, what dosage of ondansetron worked for you manage your HG? I’m on 4mg and it worked like a charm for both nausea and vomiting for max. 1 week but now I am finding it’s not very effective for the nausea and I’m back to struggling to eat and forcing myself to sleep almost all of the time so that I keep food down and don’t get dragged down by the nausea… Worth going to 8mg? I’d love to hear your experience. Thanks x

8mg 3 times a day then down to 2 times a day xx

Thank you Georgia. How did you know when to bring the frequency down? Xx

I stopped feeling as nauseous so I tried it but then was sick again, so I continued 3 times a day then tried again a few weeks later and it seems to be much better! xxx

Thank you for sharing! I’ll ask my GP for a higher dosage of 8mg xx

8mg 3 times a day. I took it along with Stemetil and Cyclizine, just staggered them all throughout the day x

I took 4mg 4x daily when I was pregnant so that I could take it every 6 hours. Any less frequently didn’t work for me. You could also try 8mg to start you off in the morning, them 4mg 3x daily. Do talk to your docror first before you decide though so you don’t miss out on refilling your script because you ‘misused’ them; some places say the maximum is 20mg/day, others say 24 or 32mg/day, so it’s important to see what your doctor is willing to prescribe you

8mg every 8 hours, reglan the other 8 so have something every 4 hours. And Haldol just in case 🥲

I did find the one that doesn’t dissolved worked faster for me??? Which is weird

Unfortunately, I'm on Ondansetron, Cyzline, and Prochlorperazine and my HG is still not under complete control BUT something I had to do when I noticed after a week the medication wasn't really working anymore is I'd have to go into Triage/EPU and get the anti sickness medication injected into me and that would get me back on track, Not sure if this is something you've tried yet but it definitely helped me. Just something to help you get back on track x

Thank you so much to all of you ladies for sharing! I’m going to se my GP within the next week or so to discuss my options. It will be good to share your experiences in case he/she needs some examples of why worked for others xx
