Lex is short for Alexis more for a girl. And if you choose to name him lex he will spend his whole life being asked "oh is that short for Alex" lol. But at the end of the day it's your kid you really shouldn't care what people think what so ever. My girls name is Saylor and I sure as hell didn't gaf what anyone had to say about it because me and my husband loved that name !
Came here to say screw what everyone else thinks. It’s your baby so as long as you like it tell everyone else to mind their business..I ended up telling people I wasn’t going to tell or talk about what I wanted to name our baby until they were born, every name I said I like someone had something to say about it so I decided I didn’t wanna here opinions anymore it was annoying and stressful, they will love the baby regardless so do what you please
Lex is definitely for a boy. It’s your child mama you do what you feel is best and what you want! I went to school with a kid named lex in elementary he was never made fun of for it bc it is a boy name loll. I feel like lex isn’t used at all with girls only Lexi for short nicknames.
I don’t understand the aversion either. I think Lex is a good name & likely wouldn’t use for a girl so it’s probably the Lex Luther connection that throws people off
I’ve only known Lex as a boy name it’s my neighbours child’s name he’s a teen don’t think he’s ever had a problem with it.
I do think of Lex Luther from Smallville, but it's short for Alexander in the show. I thought about Lex as a twin name to go with Liam, but I have an ex named Alex so I couldn't do it. If you like it who cares what anyone else says? My family was very vocal about not liking my son's middle name, I don't really care 🤷🏻♀️ they have bad taste anyways.

Ehhhh idk, it kind of sounds like a nickname for Lexie/Alexis/Alexandra. I just feel like it leans more towards a girls’ name. And I I also think it’s a bit short for a standalone name. He would spend his whole life telling people ‘no, it’s not short for _____, it’s just my name’
