Subclinical hypothyroidism

Hi, so I’ve been diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism and I’m quite symptomatic (doctor says my symptoms may or may not be related). I had bloods done in early January and my TSH was 5.9 but everything else normal. I have to book another blood test 3 months from my first one to see if there’s any change, but I hate being stuck in limbo like this. I have no energy and the worst brain fog and my heart rate has got so slow which is making me worry. I know this can be normal with hypothyroidism but I have health anxiety so I panic about everything 😅 I haven’t felt right since I had my daughter 17 months ago and I wonder if this is why. Not really sure what I wanted out of this post, maybe just to rant!

Aww that is so rough Megan! I’m sorry you’re feeling so rubbish. It could be postpartum thyroiditis. Have you done a blood test including TPO antibodies? GP might not do them for you but you can get a home blood test for about £80 on Medichecks. They should get you on levothyroxine as that should make you feel better, but it won’t “fix” things - it’s unfortunately usually a lifelong thing. I began my journey on this when I was struggling to conceive, and made some lifestyle changes that I’m lucky have brought my TSH back to optimal (1-2.5) from around 4.3. I’d really recommend Izabella Wentz’s blog and books to learn more, but you can put yourself into remission 💜 The biggest thing for me was stopping eating gluten 😭 and taking out a lot of toxic things like storing food in plastic, using products with fragrance in, etc. Here’s a blog that could be a good place to start - https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/where-do-i-start-with-hashimot

@Harriet I have wondered if it could’ve been postpartum thyroiditis, but I also have a family history of hypothyroidism so it could be permanent. No I haven’t but I’ll look into that, thank you! Thank you for the advice!
