Different surname to LO

I wondered if anyone could share their experience if they have a different surname to their LO? Did this have a big impact on anything like making appointments, travelling, school ect?

I think it is fairly common now I know a fair few mums that have different surnames to there children and I don't think it makes any difference as far as I know just people might presume you have the same surname when talking to you

not my child but my little brother had a different last name to my mum and we went on holiday without my dad and passport control were quite questioning (he was around 2/3?) as to who we were and said it’s easier to bring a note🤦🏻‍♀️which is ridiculous if they’re your child but they need to do their job so it’s understandable, we could be anyone x

i have a different surname to my son and its not affected anything! x

No real issues but I was stopped twice at airports and needed to show her birth cert copy and letter from dad (but I had them in my bag ready in case)

I, my daughter, and my husband all have different surnames. It hasn't made any difference with appointments or travelling, but I can't comment on school as she is still young.

Not a huge impact, was questioned at the airport and told to bring his birth certificate next time, was on the way back though so slightly strange it wasn’t mentioned before leaving the country 🙃

Me! I have no issues at all - he’s 3 now. I also solo travel a lot with him (fly) and ever had an issue

Both my children have my boyfriend’s last name and no impact at all!

I currently have the same name as my 2 girls. But thay was my married name and im now divorced with a new partner and baby on the way. Im planning on changing my name to my partners name, my 6 year old is rather excited for me, wont make a difference to schools or anything as its pretty common these days
