Is Gabriel too old fashioned/religious?

My husband and I have been playing around with the name Gabriel (Gabe for short) and we both really like it. But that being said the few people we've told have wrinkled their noses a bit at it as it's such a religious name and we're not very religious people. Essentially I am looking for opinions, are we opening him up to bullying in school? I thought as it's quite a classic name we'd be okay but I'm very much double guessing now sadly! We are based in the UK if that helps. Thanks so much 😊

I don’t think so. That’s my daughter’s gymnastics coach’s name. It’s very cute to hear her try to say it.

No, that’s a cute name! Even if you’re not religious, the story of Gabriel is super cool. It’s not like you’re naming him something with a negative connotation. You’ll never please everyone when it comes to baby names. Go with your gut ❀

It’s so popular in my country! And all of the Gabriel’s I know, their family is not religious at all

Were they older people perchance? I think it's a lovely name, it's my son's middle (but was so nearly his first name).

Nice name for boy or girl

No I love the name Gabriel

The children are not religious enough to bully on a religious basis đŸ„č as a mom of teens, who I raised in church 🙄 name your baby as you wish. If he’s bullied that won’t be why, promise!

My stepdad’s name is Gabren and he goes by Gabe. It’s a cool alternative so you can still use the nickname Gabe

We're based in London and I already met 3 other Gabriels under age 4, it's getting more popular, it's our boy's name and we love it :)

We aren’t religious but we went with Samson for our little guy. Love it. Gabriel is fantastic, if you love it, do it.

I think Gabriel is common enough that it’s lost its religious connection (like David and Mathew and Luke) I definitely can’t imagine bullying in school because of it. And I love the nn Gabe

I love Gabriel and don’t see it as religious at all. I really doubt there’d be any bullying from this name.
