Bleeding after sex

Granted I’m not having sex as regularly since getting pregnant but every time me and my partner have sex I’m always spotting after. Is this normal?

Totally normal. Increased blood volume to the uterus and irritation to the cervix. If you're concerned, ask your midwife x

Definitley worth going and getting things checked but it’s possible you might have something called an ectropion. It’s caused by excess oestrogen in pregnancy and caused some sensitive cells from inside the cervix to migrate outside the cervix. It’s harmless but annoying - I have this and bleed after sex so we’ve been advised to abstain so we don’t constantly have to go and get checked. They can examine you and look at your cervix to confirm if you do have it. Unfortunately if you do have it, you’ll likely keep bleeding after sex, but it should settle after pregnancy.

@Rosie I actually had this previously which eventually did go on its on (took a long long time) but the blood is a bit heavier than it was when I did have an ectropian. I didn’t know it could come back in pregnancy!! I’ll def get checked out thankyou🥰

Yeah I think the pill and pregnancy can make it happen. I’ve had some quite heavy bright red bleeding from mine. So hopefully it’s just that if you’ve had it before. Good luck!
