Postpartum bleeding

Hi all. I’m currently 4 and a half weeks postpartum. My bleeding stopped around a week ago, however the last day or two I have started bleeding again. It’s bright red (fresh period looking) and I’m also having mild period cramps. Is this normal and has anyone else had a similar experience?

I’m not sure if it is the same as me but I bled till about 4 weeks (it’s completely normal), stopped for a week and then started again but it was just a period, had them regularly since and I’m now 9m PP. I was breast feeding at the time too so I wasn’t expecting it😭😂

@Annie Okay this is reassuring thank you! I’m breastfeeding aswell so wasn’t too sure! Did you experience cramps aswell with your first period?

I bled for 4 weeks then had a week of nothing then had same as you, bright red blood and cramps for about 5 days. I'm not sure if this was continuation of postpartum bleeding or my period returning... because I had the mirena fitted at 8 weeks pp so if it was a period it never got a chance to come back. x

@Keira I did, i think that’s what made me think my period was back! I also had a drop in my milk during it cause of hormones being all over the place, and although that probably won’t happen, just letting you know that it could x
