You do get to choose one yes, it will also be where your scan appointments are held so worth considering which is most convenient for you. I went for the general and parking has been easy and cheap so far. I haven’t given birth yet so I can’t recommend unfortunately.
You get the choice, I’ve been at both the royal and the general and personally preferred the royal. I felt they got to know you more on a personal level.
Given the choice again I’d go to the royal. I wasn’t particularly happy with the care received at the general…
I’m 5 weeks pp and had baby at the LRI.. couldn’t fault the care from anyone during my time from scans to clinic appointments . Also had a c section and it was a lovely experience from the team and was home 27 hours after delivery.
Parking at the royal can be expensive depending on your pocket but I prefer the royal because the experience was amazing.
I had a over a week in the LRI and I loved it was definitely amazing to get home but I would 100% recommend the LRI they give u the best treatment and come straight the way as soon as u press the red button thingy to call a midwife over I definitely wouldn’t fault the LRI xx
@Laura wow when was this 😅?
I have had a baby at each and would definitely recommend the royal, I had a much better experience there x
With my first I was at LRI and will be going there for my second too. If you’re not sure which one look to see what birthing facilities they actually have available I’m not sure if it’s the general or the other one but their facilities are limited and depending on if there are any certain implications or difficulties they will then transport you to the LRI anyway (ofc god forbid there’s any implications but it’s always best to feel prepared) I haven’t a friend who went to the general had a bad experience and is going there again with her second. My mum also suggested to me not to go to general for giving birth she was very against it with my first so I stuck to that advice But a few others I know gave it good feedback for birthing.
@Grace thank you, I was under a consultant with my 1st so can imagine it would just be easier to be at the royal and everyone seems to say it’s nice
GENERAL so lovely small and easy parking great staff
Given birth at both hospitals. Was sent to LRI the second time as LGH closed to admissions when I was in labour, despite having all my care there. Even though parking at LGH is easier and cheaper, I preferred the LRI for delivery. Couldn’t fault my midwife, I felt listened to and empowered throughout my labour. The whole care team also introduced themselves at handover and explained their roles.. A very calm atmosphere and a much nicer room on the delivery suite (en-suite and a reclining chair for my husband, birthing ball in room, dimmed lighting). None of this was an option at LGH - but I was put in an old room that looked like a storage cupboard there.
@Natasha I had a broom cupboard type room with my 1st at Kettering it baffles me when I see people with en-suites 😂😂
Yes, you can definitely choose! I had my baby at LRI and can’t fault it. We had to stay in a few days and the care was great! They were super lovely and especially supportive with breastfeeding, as my baby girl struggled at first, which I was very grateful for! x
You get to choose your hospital. They normally ask you which one at booking (8week app)
