Suffering with pelvic girdle pain

Anyone else suffering with PGP? Got any tips on how to manage the discomfort? I’ve been suffering with it for about a month and today is by far the worst! I woke nearly every 30 minutes at night and two of the times I nearly screamed in pain. I was hoping it would ease during the day but it has stuck around 😭 I had it in my first pregnancy but definitely not this bad!

Hey, I suffered with it in my first pregnancy and again this pregnancy. It comes back and worse the second time around apparently. The only thing that helps is keeping active the more you sit or be still, the more you’ll stiffen up. Not long for us left to go, I think we just have to waddle through 🫠

@Parris I heard it comes back with a vengeance the second time around but I was hoping it was a lie 😅 I have a physical job so on my feet 6 hours a day taking rests when I can. Indeed, we have got this!

Talk to your midwife or GP to get a physio referral, don’t suffer in silence pregnancy is already challenging as it is!

My physio said moving more hurts, and sitting/being still hurts, it’s trying to find that happy medium 🥲 I’ve got a yoga ball so been doing a few bits on there I’ve seen online

@Natasha i have a very active job too and ive found that having a tight core hasn’t done any good, everything has to stretch even more ! also hypermobile. gentle yoga or pilates stretching is really helpful and gentle massage with an oil tends to work for me. epsom salt baths are great before bed and paracetamol when needed. invest in a bump belt, mine helps reduce the ligament pain and relieves pressure on my pelvis and lower back x

a pregnancy pillow was also a great investment, if you don’t have one already. really supports my lower back at nighttime

Iv really been struggling more when laying down and getting back up - after a sleep hurts the most

I’ve been suffering since about 18 weeks now. This is my first and I self referred to physio as advised by my midwife. Physio said the only way to get rid of it is to give birth I’m like wicked 🤣 apparently a warm bath helps with Epsom salts, I was fitted for a belt by the physio which helps a tiny bit but not a great deal. I also have a very physical job so I’m struggling to find that happy medium. I basically have no advice for you but it’s miserable, I feel your pain 😩

I am suffering terribly with it 😒 The following have really helped ease symptoms: - Wearing the correct shoes (I wear well fitted trainers and it makes a huge difference) - standing up/sitting down, getting out the car with closed legs - Going up stairs sideways so your legs are not over stretched or wide - Not sitting or standing for too long. Finding a perfect balance between rest and activity - Not bending too much; asking my partner to pick things up for me - Doing short walks for fresh air. Literally 10 mins does the trick to stretch everything without over doing it These things have eased up my symptoms so much! As advised by my midwife 😊 xx

@Chloe thank you these are great tips i will give some of them a good try out

Definitely recommend sitting on an exercise/ birthing ball and doing some rotations etc to help loosen up that area. Sitting on the ball in general I have found really helps take a bit of the weight and pressure off so can be a nice bit of relief.
