Anterior placenta / feeling baby move

Hi girls! I’m 28 weeks pregnant and I haven’t felt baby move at all today, I just ate some oranges and I’ll do the ice trick, if I don’t feel any movement soon should I go to the ER?

I had days I didn’t feel baby at all. Most of the time baby is asleep while you’re awake. do some light bouncing, then lay down

@BrittanyRenee yeah same but now being 28 weeks and not feeling nothing all day, not even in the morning is kinda scaring me :(

it's always best to go get checked out xx

It doesn’t hurt to get baby checked. It’ll give you peace of mind instead of wondering what if. I had 3 anterior placentas and went in if I was worried about movements. I was never made to feel bad or like I was worrying for nothing. My first baby I only stopped feeling him move at 40wks exactly and I ended up being induced that day

@Celeste it’s always best to get checked if you’re worried, but you’re over 20 weeks. You will not be seen in the ER, you have to go to labor and delivery. Anterior placenta means there’s a whole organ between your belly and your baby, which can absolutely limit what you’re feeling. Is this just happening today? Or has this happened before?

Definitely go get checked just to be sure

If I was you and you haven't felt it all day, I would rather check just to give myself comfort. There's nothing wrong with making sure everything ok. I'm sure baby is just trying to scare u like mine would some days. :)

Firstly always follow your gut and do what will give you peace of mind but i will say from experience and also being 28wks with an anterior placenta… it’s pretty common to have moments of not feeling the baby as much… i had a couple of whole days of feeling nothing and freaking out too… try eating a banana or drink a little juice or something sweet or drink cold water and lay on left side to see if you feel any movement or going on a walk and doing some different yoga positions to see if you can get baby to move around. Best of luck

When I felt like something was wrong I called my doctor and told her my concerns and she told me to eat a high protein snack or drink a soda and lay on my side and do kick counts for an hour.

Update: just got back from L&D, baby is doing fine, they monitored his heart beat and everything look normal even though I haven’t felt a single movement, nurse couldn’t feel him through my skin either but said it’s normal and to talk to my OB about how to start monitoring movement and know that baby is okay whenever I can’t feel a single thing 🫠

I had an anterior placenta with my second and with this current baby. Just try not to freak yourself out. You can always try a hair dryer or blender. I know Dopplers are about $50 on Amazon if that keeps your mind more at ease

@Maddy Jaffie hair dryer or blender? For what? 🤭 Yeah she told to not get a Doppler because that can end bad if you don’t have the knowledge of how to use it(? Like baby can be doing bad and the heart beat you hear is yours and not baby

Pretty much scares the baby to make it move. Kinda like drinking a glass of cold water and personally I feel like a Doppler is self explanatory on if you’re using it correctly. I don’t think you need to have knowledge on how to use one

Anterior placenta is so distressing tbh! This is my second and both pregnancies had anterior. There have definitely been days where I had to call the advice nurse to put my mind at ease.

@Maddy Jaffie Doppler’s are a false sense of security for anyone other than people trained to use them. Celeste is correct.
