Induction

I'm currently 30 weeks and we've been told we'll be induced around 37 weeks - for those who had a planned induction, how far in advance do you usually get your induction date? I asked my midwife and she said to speak to the consultant at my next appointment but just wondering if there is an average time everyone else found out so we know how much notice we'll have Thanks ladies!

I had about 2-3 weeks notice for mine!

Hello! I’m curious about something? Did they tell you exactly why you would be getting induced at 37 weeks instead of at 39 weeks? Just trying to figure out how they make that determination?

@Brandi Smith i know for me it was due to gestational diabetes.

I was supposed to get induced a week early and got that date around 32 weeks. Then at 35+3 I started getting high blood pressure and they moved my date up to 37 weeks. So I had a week to prepare.

@Christina Thank you for sharing that with me! I’m sorry you had to deal with that I hope it wasn’t too bad for you. So it seems like in order for a mama to get an induction date or to have to even go through the whole induction process there has to be a legitimate reason for the induction? Because for me I’m nearing 30 weeks in five more weeks and I’m so excited but nervous at the same time as to what my OB will tell me about labor and delivery! I’m mostly scared to get a C-Section 😩😩

@Brandi Smith it wasn't horrible. I actually ended up getting induced 2 days earlier than already planned as pre-eclampsia set in unexpectedly (was set for Thanksgiving night... i was going to eat turkey and then HAVE a turkey lol! Ended up induced that Tuesday instead) My labor was a bit long and hard, but turns out my anatomy wasn't quite right to get baby boy through... baby got stuck on my pelvic bone (I ended up with a section after 30hrs of labor and 6 of pushing, God knows i tried to bring him earthside naturally) but honestly the section recovery was fine! It wasn't bad.

@Christina Dang 30 hours of labor OMG 😳! I would have been a nervous wreck 😰! You’re such a brave mama I applaud you for getting through all of that especially the pre-eclampsia and the C-section ! This will be my very first child and as I get closer to 30 weeks I am starting to get worried and becoming such a nervous wreck more and more every day especially now that I can feel my baby boy moving now it is so freaky but amazing at the same time lol 😂

@Brandi Smith i was a nervous wreck. My bonus mom was there and my best friend drove 5hrs to be there and I was afraid I'd end up with a quick labor and she'd miss it. They had to break my water as pitocin wasn't effective enough and then I got to about 7.5cm without the epidural and couldn't do that anymore. Kinda regret it, or wish I'd asked for a walking epidural instead so I could've moved around. This was my first time too and if i could go back to November and do it over again there's a lot id do differently. The idea of labor is scary- honestly i was more afraid of the pitocin than labor itself. I miss those little kicks and movements of my baby though. 😭 girl you got me all nostalgic. Just breathe, you will be OK. And at the end, no matter your experience, you've got the best hard won prize the world can offer ❤️
