question, why did your midwife cut the clamp off??? when i had my first, i was told it had to fall off by itself (which it did)
That looks infected
Why did she cut the clamp off? My girl didn’t lose hers until after 3 weeks but no one mentioned cutting it off. It does look infected id get it checked asap x
@Marissa exactly! it’s supposed to fall off by itself x
My sons fell off when he was 4 days old why did it get cut off?!
Echoing the above. Shouldn't be cutting anything off. It was clamped for a reason and should be left to its own devices. I'd be having a word with whoever is above your health visitor as this seems unsafe. I imagine that'll need some treatment so definitely take them to the docs. Id try your best to keep it dry until you've been seen.
taking the plastic clamp off is fine , my baby’s pediatrician did it , however the umbilical cord stump was still attached and dried up then fell off by itself so unless the midwife pulled it all off then yes it might be infected or irritated because its not fully healed
My eldest boy had this. book in with the doctors as they will probably cauterise it to help it heal. He’s 6 now and his belly button looks normal. X
It looks a little red and sore and possibly infected?
