C-section recovery

Hi all, I’ve been told that I’m likely to be induced early due to some issues with the baby, and I think I’m leaning towards having a planned c-section instead of an induction. I just wondered if people could tell me their stories of c-section recovery so I know what to expect? My husband will have to go back to work after 2 weeks and I’m nervous about how I’ll cope after that. I don’t have much family support.

I haven't had one yet but plan too so will be good to see the comments when they come through!

Hi, my baby is now 7w with a planned c section. And I am so glad I had a planned one. It just takes all the stress and the uncertainty away. My family is in south Africa, my husband is British but his family lives in Spain. So I also didn't have family support. My biggest struggle was latching, 2 weeks is dearly enough. The government should really increase this time. But it's all because of latching. The recovery part of it was all right. I felt like after 10 days I could do what is needed. But OMG latching was a major hiccup. I did go to a NCT group and there are some girls that do not have any issues. But it was a proper 5 hand mission for me personally.

My baby is 9 weeks now and I had a planned c/s. It was an amazing experience and if I were having a second baby, I'd have a planned c/s again. The recovery wasn't too bad. I was able to move around as normal once the spinal wore off and my catheter was removed. The only thing was a couple of days where going from laying down to sitting up was a problem. I also struggled to stand up from my low couch, which caused my knees to become painful. But otherwise, all great. Breastfeeding was only an issue for us due to my baby's tongue tie. Good luck!

I’d echo these - my planned C-section was an amazing experience and recovery, and I’m so glad I chose it over induction. We also had some early problems feeding - make sure you get as much input from lactation specialists at the hospital if you plan to BF. Take the meds they give you on a schedule to stay on top of pain management - I was able to stop mine after just under a week. Also maybe buy a bed rail - it made getting in and out of bed SO much easier. This sort of thing https://amzn.eu/d/gIAZzGo
