iām 27 weeks and have gained 18 lbs my whole pregnancy so far. the first 20ish weeks i wasnāt noticing any weight gain and then it hit very fast and now iāve gained between 6-8 lbs each month. i only weigh myself when at the doctor and i donāt look at it til i leave and see my after visit summary. it makes me super insecure but i have to remember im growing a human and that itās normal ā¤ļø
Iāve gained about 20 pounds too and the bump app says that normally around 25 weeks. I feel fat, every part of my body has gotten bigger. I just try to remind myself that I can always lose weight after sheās born.
@Madeline my sister gained 50 pounds with all her pregnancy and she is still a very small girl. Do whatās best for your body and baby!!
Yep - Iāve gained 30lbs so far (at only 26 weeks), and honestly, itās shaken me up. I thought I was past the body image issues I struggled with earlier in life. I avoid scales, and only get weighed at the doctor. Obsessing over the number is not healthy for me. Iāve also tried to focus on making sure I move my body everyday (a walk or yoga usually) and making sure Iām getting enough fruits, veggies, and protein in my diet to feed myself and baby. Otherwise, just trying to let my body do its thing and remember that growing a human is amazing and itās okay that my body is growing to do that amazing thing. Itās easier said than done though.
Iāve gained 25lbs so far (27 weeks). My first pregnancy I gained 25 lbs, but I also lost it all and more in the first week. Every bodies body is different and the weight goes away differently, but just remember it is all to grow your babyā¤ļø
Iām 26 weeks tomorrow and Gained about 15lb last time I weighed myself (10 days ago) and honestly I freaked out. I Didnāt gain anything for the first 12 weeks despite it being over Christmas. It feels awful but just remind myself it isnāt permanent. Iām trying to be active when not exhausted but everything takes longer and is harder. I donāt get it because most people say they canāt tell Iām pregnant. And most of my clothes still fit (just arenāt comfortable at all) Donāt be hard on yourself. Thereās time after to lose it if you want to. Weight gain can depend on how much you weighed before as well. Youāre growing a human after all! Think it if often ourselves who notice it. Donāt know if my partner is just being nice but he says he doesnāt think Iāve put any on.
Remember that this will go away very quickly after the baby is born. If you want read online a bit why and what is the weight you are gaining. We might gain faster now in 3rd trimester but itās because the baby is gaining weight, itās not pure fat you are putting on that you will need to deal for the rest of your life. A lot of the weight is baby, placenta etc. our body also tend to retain more water now so some of it just water weight. If you plan on breastfeeding it helps a lot with loosing the weight you gained during pregnancy
Thank you guys š«¶š¼ itās very reassuring to hear that weāre all in similar places. Iām trying to do more walking now and pregnancy Zumba but honestly sometimes I just feel tired and want to snack on the couch. But thatās okay too. Itās all about balance
Hi! Recommended weight gain during pregnancy is usually looked through the lens of your pre-pregnancy weight. I have a conversation with my clients at the start of their journey about the amount and pace of weight gain. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat more :)
Hi, just here to say I gained 60 lbs š with my son and lost about 30 within the first month of his life bc it was a lot of water weight from extreme fluid retention. Please be gentle on yourself, I ruined the end of my pregnancy due to lack of self esteem. It really isnāt worth it youāre growing a human! I am pregnant now - 28 weeks and havenāt gained anything and baby is healthy. Every pregnancy will be different!
My first pregnancy I put on 65 lbs. I wouldn't recommend it.. I was exercising and everything but didn't have access to lots of healthy food and got sick my first tri which really threw off my weight after 3 weeks in bed (Covid). I say this to encourage you because not only did I have a healthy baby but I lost all the weight within a year. I'm having a much more healthy pregnancy this time around but still up 25-30 lbs. Some women have a lot of fluid retention, keep in mind. I average a size 4-6 when not pregnant. Make healthy choices but don't stress it.
@Madeline Iām probably around the same & definitely donāt weigh myself & donāt like the scale at the doctors but I keep reminding myself itās mostly fluid and baby weight and itāll go away as long as I watch what I eat. I also have no appetite and am eating less than before pregnancy and still have gained 20ish lbs by 24 weeks
Just remember that the weight gained is temporary and much of it is critical for the healthy development of your baby. Iāve gained about 30 lbs and Iām 26 weeks. I gained a similar amount during my last pregnancy as well. A lot of the weight was very quickly lost after birth (between baby, placenta, extra water/blood) and then naturally dropped more weight in the months that followed without a crazy exercise routine. Youāll never regret nourishing your baby during this critical time! Iād suggest focusing on eating a well balanced diet vs counting calories or focusing on the lbs.
Queen Iāve gained 24 pounds and Iām literally only 25 weeks

Iāve gained 25 and Iām 27 weeks. I felt really upset about it and still do sometimes but I manage by just not getting on scales and avoiding mirrors. Probably not super healthy but it works for me
