😒 Is this a new thing in the job market?
I was contacted after applying for a transit authority company in my area. In the email they said they "might" interview me for the position and to answer some additional questions including my availability for an interview on one particular date.
I answered the questions and left the salary question as negotiable. The recruiter didn't like that I put negotiable and asked me to put a number. I put a number that I wanted which was slightly higher than my application.
Days go by and I don't hear anything and it's getting closer to that interview date. I reach back out and the recruiter says they've decided to move forward with other candidates. When I ask was there anything in particular that lead to that decision, she gives me a generic answer. "We've decided to move forward with other candidates whose experience better align with the position."
Excuse me but WTF!!! Why did you even contact me? You saw my experience. If you're going to contact me at least follow-up and tell me instead of me having to reach back out to you.
My blood is boiling 😤. I was really excited to interview for the position and that was extremely unprofessional to me. If my salary expectations was too high, just say that. And don't reach out to people that you don't plan on interviewing to ask their availability for an interview 😡😡😡
@Tiffany I almost want to make a complaint. They really don't know the emotional roller coaster of job hunting. And for them to just unnecessarily reach out to me to get my hopes up is just cruel 😠.
