I'm not sure what your baby is like as they are all different, but my baby has recently had a nursing strike (breastfeeding). I think she was eating too many solids, and it was filling her up too much to drink milk. We were also suddenly going out every day, so we were pretty busy. She's back drinking milk now, 3 meals a day, and 1 snack. She's 12 months old. The doctor said drinking less milk can be for a number of reasons like changes in routine, sore throat/mouth, baby being too distracted, stuffy nose/cold, changes in milk taste, getting too many calories from solids so they feel too full x
This is reassuring to hear. He was really enjoying his food, so we were on 3 meals a day and snacks, so I’ve gone and dropped a meal again to accommodate more milk intake, but I suppose as they get older you feel like you’re taking a step backwards, but I know he’s getting most of his nutrition from his milk. It’s probably a FTM overthinking thing isn’t it..!
My baby is 8 months and bounces between 16-20oz a day usually she's always been on the lower end of taking formula so I'm not concerned. Her sister by 10 months was only drinking 16oz as she was a food lover. The amounts are a guideline and some babies will take more some will take less. They just average out as to what they need so to speak.
We’ve started putting milk in our girls solids for an extra boost.
@Charlotte try not to worry. It's all trial and error. 3 meals a day should be plenty at 10 months ❤️ The NHS doesn't actually recommend snacks under 12 months. Milk should be enough for a snack between meals as milk is a food. But only you know what's best for your baby. Everything is a guideline, and they are all different 💕
Thank you all so much 🤍
Babies will have what they need. The 21oz is a guideline not a rule.
