Hey what would you like to know? X

Mine was fine, just took a book to read and a bottle of water to drink. The juice wasn’t so bad, just like a capri-sun.

What sort of surgery drink do they give you and what treatments do they give you if you actually have diabetes ?

I didn’t need any treatment as such. Just monitored my blood sugars 4x a day (where I was, the monitor was Bluetooth, connected to my phone and all the results uploaded onto an app) and avoided obviously sugary food. I only just had diabetes though, my sugars were just over the normal limit, so I didn’t have to make many changes to my diet. I know some people have to even cut out carbs or take medication to keep their sugars down. But it’s all best to do for baby.

@Jo I was diagnosed far. To late for any treatment’ as I was induced day after but during the time they was questioning I had to do finger prick test just before each meal and an hour after each meal to see what was going off wirh my sugars

I was given what tasted like flat orange Fanta to drink- really not that bad at all. I had to test my sugar 4 times a day and couldn’t control my sugar levels with diet alone so I was on insulin, which I injected at bedtime every night. It’s really crappy when you first get diagnosed but after a while you just get used to it. My diet was so much healthier I didn’t really gain any weight in pregnancy too

Due to my BMI being over 30 at the start of my pregnancy I had a gestational diabetes rest. Went in had a blood test (which I hate! Emla cream for the win). Drank the drink which tasted like flat sprite and went and sat on the sofa in the waiting room for 3 hours. I sat on my phone watching videos and drinking some water. Felt a little sleepy but other then that was fine. Had my second blood test and then walked down the corridor back to work. Mine came back negative.

First time I had it it was a small ish cup of orange flavour drink, almost syrup like consistency, it wasn’t awful and this is coming from someone who really struggles drinking anything that’s not a ‘normal’ drink if that makes sense. Second time was like a more lemony flavoured one, just water consistency. Both appointments were first thing which made the fasting a lot easier, as that’s what made me feel sick! And then I was allowed some water after both :)
