Hey ladies xx Did you guys have to pay for a fit to fly letter?. I asked my midwife and she said to contact my gp. And they quoted me £40🤔?

i used an online gp, can’t remember the name but was about 10/20 £ i think. they never asked for it though🤷‍♀️ but better to have it just in case!

My midwife did it for me and didn’t charge anything

I had to pay £50 for mine through my GP as it counted as private work.

My midwife said doctors will charge you for one but to get it from the midwifes as they won't charge me. I didn't need one, I was 23 weeks and my airline wanted one for over 30 weeks but I got one just incase. I was never asked for it though

No, didn’t have to pay for one from the midwife

Yeah mine was £25 from the GP

No. I got mine from my midwife. But I didn't need it as nobody checked at the airport.

Yes I’ve just paid £30 for my GP to do mine, midwife said it has to come from GP. Honestly could of done the letter myself when I saw how much of a basic letter they’d done

@Zoe tour midwife is nice!

@Ann-Marie yhh mine saying the same, just for a piece of paper haha

@Tahmina how many weeks were you? I plan to travel at 33/34 wrrks

@Zee 30 weeks, and I definitely had a big bump.

Just to make you aware, some midwife’s will write one but they aren’t sufficient if you need to claim on insurance x

@Sophie oh okay i didn’t know that. Thanks!

Also check with the airline as some have fit to fly forms to be filled in by a medical professional. Mine didn't so the midwife just wrote a letter.

@Nicole can a midwife form substitute an airline form? I wonder why an airline would want a separate form for that, when a paper from a midwife is more than enough

@Vera I have no idea. When I phoned up to ask for one the the midwife asked if the airline had a form as some do. TUI didn't have so my midwife just wrote the letter. I'm guessing the form may be used for other reasons not just pregnancy.
